Switch Engineer
Manchester, North West, Cheshire
£33-38,000 depending on experience
Overall Purpose of Role
We are looking to recruit a highly a switch engineer to join our northern switch team. The role will cover Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm
Role Responsibilities
To work as part of a team covering all facets of the Nokia DX220 Switching Network and the CPWN Sonus VoIP Network including operations and maintenance. Data fill of new and existing c7, Q931 and SIP interconnects on the Nokia or Sonus switching platforms. Daily maintenance and fault finding on the Nokia and Sonus switching platforms. To provide second line support to the CPWN NOC including 24hour support as part of a callout rota.
Know How
This position requires an extensive knowledge of switching principles and strong commerical exposure with Nokia DX220 fixed switch platforms or Sonus VoIP switching platforms. Routing skills and maintenance procedures of switching platforms are essential. Knowledge of IN and IVR solutions would be an advantage. Exposure to Unix would be advantageous, however, not essential.
Communication (regular contacts/networking within role)
Will be required to liaise internally to assist in fault resolution and project work. This role will also require external communications with customers, carriers and vendors.
Decision Making & Accountabilities
Will be working as part of a team of engineers, however, the ability to work unsupervised out of hours in fault situations will be required.
Challenges
To work as part of a team expanding CPWN?s next generation network whilst maintaining the Nokia TDM network.
