Job Description
Senior PSA Practitioner –West of Scotland base (Helensburgh)
ROLE & ACCOUNTABILITIES –SENIOR PSA PRACTITIONER- Reporting to Head of Nuclear Compliance
To review, maintain and develop the HMNB Clyde Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) data that supports the ongoing permissioning of Nuclear Powered Warship (NPW) operations within the Authorised Site Facilities.
To develop and maintain a software based PSA model that realistically details the Nuclear/Radiological risk to the three critical groups. Sensible interpretation and application of the model that be used to support safety arguments and to demonstrate compliance to set regulatory safety criteria.
To represent HMNB Clyde and BNS at internal and national Naval Nuclear Propulsion Programme (NNPP) forums in the area of PSA development. To interface with other NNPP stakeholders on the use and adoption of best community practise.
PERSON SPEC - higher weighting more important
10- A recognised degree in a relevant area or equivalent experience
10- Solid background of working within the PSA development area within the nuclear industry
10- Experienced in the production/application of the following - fault tree analysis, event tree analysis, fault/hazard identification and a knowledge of human reliability analysis, common cause failure analysis and fault schedule production.
10- Experience of using software based PSA tools to develop and maintain multi-functional models
10- Nuclear propulsion functional competences -
- Nuclear Safety Management Systems
- Nuclear/Radiological Safety Requirements
- Nuclear Safety Case Production
10-To be the focal point within HMNB Clyde for the interpretation and implementation of PSA related (levels 1-3) safety principles and methodologies.
· 10-To develop, lead and progress relevant reliability studies in the areas of infrastructure/system and EMIT with the aim of producing realistic data for the development of procedures.
· 10-To act as the HMNB Clyde PSA specialist at relevant meetings and facilitate a transfer of knowledge to interested stakeholders where required
· 10-To support Site Safety Justification Manager (SSJM) in the development and maintenance of a fully justified and compliant Nuclear Site Safety Justification.
· 9- A chartered member of a professional institution or actively working towards it
· 9- Completion of the Nuclear Warship Support Course or equivalent NSQEP and Nuclear Site Safety Justification Course
· 9- Understanding of modern Site Safety Justification requirements.
