Senior Commercial Officer
Oakdale, South Wales
Salary £25-30,000
We are a specialist recruitment agency and we are currently looking for a Senior Commercial Officer for our client based in the South Wales area.
Purpose of Position
To establish and maintain the administration of allocated contracts.
Provide support to the business area commercial staff.
Responsibilities
Responsibility for administration and day-to-day management of allocated contracts and/or sub-contracts within the business area.
Monitoring contract performance to ensure compliance against Terms and Conditions.
Raise purchase Requisitions for Sub-Contractors & bookings of allocated contracts.
Preparation, submission and logging of quotations in compliance with QMS Procedures.
Non Disclosure Agreement preparation and compliance with QMS Procedures.
Administration and commercial support of business area bid team during bid preparation activities.
Attend internal and external meetings and provide day-to-day communication with the customer.
Ensures dispatches are made in a timely manner.
Provides milestone planning to generate positive cash flow and appropriate contract cover.
Support business area team negotiations on contractual terms and conditions with new and existing. customers and/or Sub-contractors to minimise liabilities and maximise opportunities.
Inputs into the company Information Systems, database logs and company intranet.
Liaise with customers and/or subcontractors to discuss and resolve issues on those allocated contracts. Work alongside and support business area including Programme Managers, Financial and Engineering staff.
Develop and maintain a good working relationship with customers and/or subcontractors.
Education/Experience
Essential:
Commercial/contract experience in the UK Defence Industry, particularly with the UK MOD as the customer.
An effective communicator, both written & oral.
Highly computer literate, particularly MS Office Outlook, Word & Excel, with associated keyboard skills.
A clear understanding of the basic order/invoice process.
Ability to flexible to work in a highly dynamic, pressured environment.
Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of finance processes.
Desirable:
Knowledge of terms and conditions and contractual law would be an advantage.
Experience of working on major UK MOD programmes desirable.
Experience of working with other major defence contractors desirable.
Knowledge of Drafting of Tenders, Contracts and other Commercial documentation would be desirable. Working knowledge of UK MOD Contracting policies & procedures desirable.
