We are a recruitment agency and are currently looking for a Responsible Engineer for our Stevenage client.
Responsible Engineer
The T&SG Technical Lead role is a part of a dynamic growing centre of competence [CoC] for the provision of innovative, world-class Test Systems solutions for a large multi-national satellite company.
The Test & Software Group is assigned the responsibility to provide the Test System expertise to meet the company programmes. The group has the responsibility for the provision of Test Systems to validate Equipments and Payloads products, which focuses on research, development and deployment in the field of Digital Processors, RF and Microwave space qualified technologies.
This Test and Software Group [T&SG] Technical Lead role is biased towards the Digital Processor technologies supporting the Processor Products Group [PPG]
The Processor Products Group [PPG) develops equipments for spacecraft. PPG require test solutions to support engineering development and production test of the equipment that they design. T&SG therefore require a presence to support PPG projects. The role of T&SG Technical Lead is required to establish a T&SG team to support theses PPG projects.
The T&SG Technical Lead will be responsible for technical aspects of the test solutions for Processor Products Group [PPG] projects; The Technical Lead will also act as Responsible Engineer for the test solution aspects of PPG projects. Being responsible for overall test equipment design, along with the methods and tools used. The Technical Lead will report to the T&SG Manager
Tasks
The primary task of the T&SG Team Lead is to manage a technical team to provide Hardware and Software Systems designs to achieve the Test System performance to meet the requirements of the Test System delivery to cost & schedule.
The Technical Lead will liaise with product Assurance and Software Product Assurance representatives to ensure the quality of the test solutions produced; Liaising with PPG project Responsible Engineers to define and agree the test solutions for projects. The Technical Lead will also liaise with PPG Project Team Leads to define and agree project costs and time estimates.
The Technical Lead role is based at Stevenage along with the team of T&SG hardware and software engineers. In the majority of cases the PPG products are manufactured at the Portsmouth site, a moderate amount of travel is therefore required to support test equipment delivered to Portsmouth.
Qualifications:
Proven theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the design and implementation of Automated Test Systems
Minimum Degree or equivalent in an Engineering or Science subject
Personal skills:
Confident, Self-motivated, responsible, flexible, good attention to detail, good communication skills across all levels of personnel.
Able to lead a team of engineers to achieve design aims
Responsibilities:
This Technical Lead role includes but is not limited to the responsibility areas below:
The Technical Lead role of T&SG teams that design and development advanced Test Systems for the Processor Products Group [PPG] development and manufacturing phases.
Provides project and product requirements, architectural and detailed design for Test Systems hardware and software
Advises on product design improvements
Support Bid proposals and requirements role out
Ensure Test Systems that are designed and developed are CE compliant.
Define new product introductions test strategy and flow
Support integration & build including liaison with planning and procurement and use of company support tools e.g. SPRINT/SAP/ SourceSafe
Assist in the transfers of Test Systems from development into manufacturing and support/train users as required
Working to agreed departmental procedures
Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
