Role Purpose:
Responsible for ensuring delivery of all deliverables, required by the relevant sub-contract(s), to time, quality and cost. Specifically responsible for the commercial integrity of sub-contracts, contract amendments and delivery of savings to achieve the Cost Reduction Programme (CRP).
The succesful Candidate will implement strategies associated with the sub-contract(s) to deliver maximum business advantage in line with business plan, in the high value/high risk and complex political environment.
He/She will manage the business winning process associated with one or more major suppliers being accountable for drafting and negotiation of complex RFQ's, sub-contracts, contract amendments and other industrial agreements ensuring they meet the requirements of the Project and minimise risk and cost.
Authorised to sign contracts and amendments in accordance with Authorised signatories (currently £2M)
You will also be responsible for maintaining the Sub-contractor delivery programme in line with project requirements within authorized budgets and ensure the Sub-contractor performs in accordance with their contractual obligations
You will ensure the Commercial position is protected and improved where possible at all times and ensure the company has adequate visibility of the sub-contractor programmes to enable resolution of Sub-contractor problems before they impact on the company.
The succesful Candidate will support cost reduction activities, undertaking risk management and change management within the delivery team to maximise commercial benefit to the company and forecast cash payments in order that business plans are achieved.
You will be constantly aware of, and implement strategies , to overcome problems that may hazard timely delivery of project requirements or cost and run supplier meetings including regular progress reviews to ensure contract performance and understand status of sub contracts.
You will be an active member of an integrated, mulit-functional project team and ensure task directives & commitment placed are in line and maintained topical
The succesful Candidate will participate in project and functional process improvement opportunities, sharing best practice where appropriate within other sectors/projects and promote best practice and functional excellence.
You will have the cccasional management of one or two subordinates to ensure they are effectively directed at achievement of company and project objectives and work with supply chain resources to maximize contribution to the project.
When applicable, you will provide subordinates with help and guidance through a mixture of direction and coaching (as considered appropriate) ensuring effective personal development plans and 1 to 1's are undertaken in a timely manner to maximize the development of individuals in the team.
The succesful Candidate will ensure own and others full potential can be realised.
Supporting Identification of business opportunities / needs and proposes solutions through briefs and reports to Manager.
Commercially taut contracts that address all obligations.
Sub-contractors deliver to time and cost.
Ensures cost reduction programme is aligned to these activities, including development and exploitation of gain share opportunities with supplier
Cost at complete and Cash Payments managed within Budget and in line with business needs.
Coherent risk and opportunity registers maintained yielding reduced risk and/or increased margin.
Task directives available to support orders placed
Ensuring adherence to company processes
Participate in functional and business improvement activity and manages delivery.
When applicable effective one to ones completed on time with training needs identified and agreed objectives and development goals.
Provide functional guidance and direction to team members and other internal customers to achieve business goals.
You should have
Solid negotiation experience and interpersonal skills
Good familiarity with MOD terms and conditions
Previous experience of managing high value high risk strategic suppliers
Good process and change management
Extensive knowledge on a broad range of Commercial issues and skills including contract management skills throughout the contract lifecycle.
Effective influencing and team working skills
People management skills
Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
Given the nature of their work, our Client needs to obtain security clearance for all its employees. Sadly this is extremely hard to secure for non-British applicants. In effect this means that our Client can only consider British passport holders for this position.
