Job Description
This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgable NOC Engineer to join our client's Network Operation Centre based within the Manchester area. The role involves 24 hour monitoring of Networks Transmission/SDH network. Monitoring and daily maintenance of Nokia DX220 switches. Also responsible for the monitoring/maintenance of CPWN 21Cn network.
Requirements
Candidate will be fully competent in the daily use ok Nokia DX220 switching from interrogation to data changes within the switches. knowledge of C7/Q931 signalling protocols
PC literate. - Proficient in the use of MS Office, MS Outlook, XL
Identify problems, seek relevant data, analyse and evaluate appropriate solutions for corrective action in a continually changing, pressurised environment.
Confident in the use of various software applicat+ions that will involve updating databases and reloading bespoke software applications / programs on to PC?s. Understanding of the basic transmission, IP and switching principles, enabling installation of data cabling and connections of varying types.
Able to work unsupervised within all expected operational areas
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work within the NOC department of the company. Daily responsibilities to include working alongside fellow shift members to monitor and maintain the companys Transmission/SDH network. To also be responsible for daily monitoring/maintenance of 14 Nokia DX220 switches. The ideal candidate will also be involved in monitoring/rollout of CPWN 21CN network countrywide including monitoring of access nodes across the country.
Key responsibilities include
To ensure all aspects of the network are fully functional and working to their optimum level at all times
To ensure that daily routines are adhered to on SDH/Nokia DX220/21CN networks
To liaise with other departments closely ensuring fault resolution with agreed SLA?s

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job-holder is required to perform other duties assigned by the Line Manager from time to time.
