Network and Security Engineer - Contract See other jobs from Recruit Spain Status: Full Time Salary: excellent Job Location: Europe > Spain > Gibraltar   Job Description Our client is searching for a contract Network and Security Engineer to perform the following role THE ROLE: • Maintain IT infrastructure in order to meet the demand of operations and to support business change. • Monitor Network and Security elements to ensure optimal performance. • Mitigate internal/external abuse, security and denial of service attempts. • Liaise with network vendors and peers to ensure efficient operation of service. • Ensure all network and security issues are resolved quickly and efficiently. • Provide expert consulting and advice to both Technical Operations and the wider business in the design and development of network and security as well as seeing the bigger picture of how these areas fit into the IT Operation as a whole. • Develop and maintain standard operating plans and procedures to ensure all system changes and upgrades do not adversely affect the live operation. • Ensure that policy is adhered to with regard to network and security management to provide a secure, stable and robust infrastructure. • Develop all supporting technical documentation to ensure consistency and quality of installations and systems upgrades. • Work with colleagues in IT operations and across the company to deliver an effective and well maintained IT infrastructure that meets the needs of the company’s current and future operations. • Estimate work effort required from a project perspective, execute agreed project work and produce comparisons to fine tune the Project Management process. • Be up-to-date with the latest developments in the Network and Security field. • Be proactive in looking at ways to continually improve business systems and procedures THE PERSON: Essential • 5+ years proven relevant technical experience working with a collection of the following systems: - • Routing Protocols (BGP/OSPF both Cisco and Juniper) • Server Farm/SAN/NAS/DAS Networking/Routing • Switching (Trunks/VLANs) • Cisco VoIP solutions • VPN Technology • Firewall Technology • F5 Devices (BigIP/Traffic Manager/3DNS) • Radware, Peakflow • Toplayer, Snort • ITIL experience, minimum Incident/Problem /Change/Configuration/Release. • Business / Technical Analysis skills • The role holder must have strong analytical and trouble-shooting skills coupled with the ability to deliver project work. • Documentation / process writing skills Desirable • B.Sc in IT or Computing or equivalent work experience. • 5+ years experience in the field of Networking and Security, preferably within a high volume financial transaction or ISP environment. • A background in system integration and maintenance is highly preferable • Cisco, Juniper and or F5 qualifications (CCNP/JNCIS) • Knowledge of Unix/Linux • Knowledge of Databases/SQL • Knowledge of Client-Server Application implementations • Knowledge of Windows Server implementation • ITIL Practitioner. • Prince2 Foundation and/or Project Management experience Daily rate is £350 per day Qualifications/Skills Required ..........
