We are a recruitment agency and we are currently recruiting for our Portsmouth based client - a Lead Electrical RF Engineer
Lead Engineer, Electrical and RF test of satellite Communication payloads. Primary base in Portsmouth with some National and International travel. Responsible for the preparation, planning, development of the Electrical and RF test phases conducted during the build of a Satellite Communication Payload.
Responsibilities include:
Interfacing with the Payload design and systems engineers for test requirements, test methods, verification methodology and the Test Engineering Group for issues related to provision of Payload Test Equipment, test Software and results analysis tools.
Interfacing and progress reporting/planning with internal and external customers
Ownership of the Payload test plan, flow down of all test procedures, electrical integration, and test aid specifications. The test solution has dependencies on the test requirements and the physical design of the Payload. By analysis a Test Bill Of Materials Test BOM is created to control the procurement of all test interfaces and test items required for a specific programme.
Support the acceptance and integration process for dedicated Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE).
The readiness of all operational procedures, test Software and related telemetry and telecommand databases, test aids and test equipment in a timely manner to support the project schedule.
The provision of all relevant data and support in the maintenance of verification matrices and test reports Support the Go / No Go process and other Horizon initiatives
Participation in risk management
During operational build and test phases the Lead Engineer will support the execution of all electrical activities in line with the detailed AIT schedules and work closely with the AIT Operational team who allocate the resources and facility.
AIT activities are managed through the daily AIT meeting at which the Lead Engineer will report on progress and confirm what the objectives are for the next 24 hours.
The Lead Engineer will also take responsibilities for raising non conformances, ensuring contribution to problem solving, implementation of investigations and corrective actions.
Interfacing with key test and validation engineering groups where necessary and actively participate in problem solving and resolution.
Abilities
Determine and specify Electrical and RF measurements, tests and RF calibration methodologies.
Experienced RF engineer able to interpret test requirements and produce leading and operational test procedures
A good understanding of the functionality of communication satellites and communication systems.
Operation of current RF test systems and DC test equipment.
Able to plan, execute, delegate and monitor technical activities with other engineers.
Technical problem solving.
Able to focus a team of engineers on a schedule of activities and motivate them to produce outputs in line with scheduled requirements.
Able to present technical data to peers and superiors in a coherent manner.
Must have drive and enthusiasm to achieve timely delivery in line with schedule.
Must be able to perform as the focus of a team and be able to recognise and capitalise on the abilities of individual staff.
Must be available for on call duty during operational phases
Qualifications and/or Skills
An Engineering Graduate, HNC / HND or similar with a proven industry background.
Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
