St Albans: Fashion Magazine Career?
I'm very interested in directing myself toward a career in fashion, but I would especially love to work for a fashion magazine, not necessarily as an editor or writer. I was wonder what post-secondary courses you would recommend taking, as well as examples of available jobs in the fashion magazine industry.
Thanks in advance!... 01 Dec 08, 06:12:25
St Albans: Could I get a job that would only be 15 hours a week?
This summer, I'm planning on working lots... ideally around 55 but not more than 60 hours a week. I have something in mind for about 40 or 45 hours a week, but if possible I'd like to try to get another job for about 15 more hours a week.
About the only thing available in the area would stores and waitressing and fast food, so I wanted to know if any of those places would consider hiring for only a couple days a week, or if anyone has any ideas for very part time jobs that would be available in small towns.... 01 Dec 08, 05:12:55
St Albans: Is information like 'how to build a diesel engine' available online?
I want to learn what I can about a lot of things off the internet. One of them would be how to build an engine that I could use in a go-cart (but preferably diesel so that I could power it off biodiesel fuel), and how to build the whole go-cart etc.
A go-cart would just be one thing... I want to learn as much as I can about mechanics, woodworking, welding, etc. etc. just because I like to know these things and some of them would be fun to do sometime. I'm going into a career of welding, so I got that one covered, but theres a ton of other things that I/ want to learn and I'd prefer not to have to pay for schooling on the, and right now i have a part time job that barely pays for ... 01 Dec 08, 05:12:43

St Albans: I have been retaliated against and terminated from my job due to reporting age discrimination?
I am a 41 year old male in Orlando Florida.I reported to my manager a hostile work environment one of my managers were making for me with several comments he made about my age and that a much younger associate was being crossed trained to fill my position. After I reported this I was terminated a week and a half later. The employer states I violated a company policy which constitutes misconduct and I was denied unemployment benefits due to this.I have appealed this and now the determination has been reversed. The employer never showed up to the appeals hearing.I have filed with the EEOC and I am awaiting to be contacted by them and could take up to 45 days before they do so.Should I at this tim... 01 Dec 08, 03:12:57

St Albans: Moving to Anchorage, Alaska in January, I have some questions!?
I've been reading through the posts on here and most of them regarding moving to Alaska (Anchorage municipality) have been very informative and helpful, but I just have a few questions that are more specific to my situation.
1. We are leaving in January, and the car my roommate has now is in no way fit to drive around in Alaska (regardless of how often they clear the snow). We will be flying into Anchorage and hope to find an INEXPENSIVE but moderately safe vehicle, that will last at least for temporary inner-city use only while job hunting and exploring the town. Any recommendations for used car places (or types) besides Craigslist? (which we do plan on utilizing). Also, how much d... 01 Dec 08, 12:12:02
St Albans: Redundancy, job offered to all departments despite no connection.?
I am currently at risk of redundancy as well as the rest of our company.
The billing jobs have all moved to a different part of the country and Projects team are no longer required in the new business.
My team are order management and there are 6 current employees each with a separate role profile.
Unfortunately the manager of the billing team is our Representative in consultation meetings with our new owners, and i feel this person is giving their and a partnering team preferential treatment, not offered to the rest of the business.
Across the business there are job matches (and assured they have new roles in the new business) and people told they are being let go because their ... 01 Dec 08, 12:12:45
St Albans: What is the best way to retain health insurance / pension plan providers across jobs & continents?
As someone who will almost definitely not stay in any one country or with any one employer for eternity, I fear for the stability of my health insurance and pension options. I would like the stability of having a single pension plan and insurance provider to take with me wherever I am (for example, see http://www.cigna.com/our_plans/international/index.html). The currently available options seem expensive and less value for money, but admittedly this is an increasingly common lifestyle. I'd like your opinions.... 01 Dec 08, 12:12:28
