How can i have experience if they dont give me the job (considering im an international student)? It is not absoultey a do or die situation for me but important in terms gaining some skills and enhancing my CV. Southend: Can somebody proof read this and give me any suggestions for corrections? ?
This is my essay in response to Jennifer Price's essay The Plastic Pink Flamingo: Natural History I was supposed to write an essay in which i analyze how Price crafts her text to reveal her view of US culture. Can you please give suggestions of any way to improve it. whether it be word choice (give suggestions) or writing topics it all helps! Thanks :)
XXXJennifer Price’s essay, “The Plastic Pink Flamingo: A Natural History”, talks about the widely known pink flamingo and how its color came to be a trend in the United States culture. Southend: Could my cousin be arrested for this?
My cousin works at an airport (Richmond international in virginia) and his job is to take and weigh the luugage being checked at curbside. He tells me that when a person is rude to him, which isnt very often due to the simplicity of the process, he will simply send the persons bags to a different city instead of their destination. For example, he told me he had a lady the other week who pitched a fit at him because of traffic, which he obviously cant control. he sent her bags to st louis, although she was going to atlanta. And last night a lady was going to Dallas and he sent her bags to Indianapolis cause she was rude. he says there are three people there doing bags at a time so theres no w... 22 Nov 08, 08:11:26
Southend: On Gender Equality in the Workplace?
I have heard countless women comment on/protest/complain about the lack of gender equality in the workplace, which I respect. However, recently I have heard about a workplace which is dominated by women (this is not in a field that is dominated by women, however, International Affairs). I was told that this was not gender inequality towards men because they hired only the most qualified people, which I respect. That should happen more often.
My question is, if the population of an office or workplace is mostly or entirely men who are the most qualified people for the job, is this gender discrimination? And if so, how do you explain the double standard?
PS: I am not asking this question... 22 Nov 08, 07:11:10
Southend: Credit score without having a credit card?
I recently got a job and they will check my consumer report. However, a few months ago, I got to the US to marry my husband.
I used to be an international student. I got my social security number in August 2005 when I got a job on campus. I worked on campus for two semesters until my graduation.
Now, I cannot apply for any credit cards because I am not a permanent resident.(in this Dec, I will have my interview for my residency). So my husband called up Discovery credit card to add me under his name. However, I am not a prime holder.
so all the billing and every thing is under his name.
Does it mean that I have a bad credit?
Also, how can they use my social security number to investiga... 22 Nov 08, 06:11:21
Southend: American student considering transfer to UK university?
I'm a current college sophomore with a 3.2 GPA at a fairly large (27,000) person university. I also received a 1290 on the SATs out of the 1600 scale. I have always wanted to go to a university in another country and believe the UK would give me the perfect mix of a familiar language with a more international setting. (my current university promised an international enviornment but did not deliever at all.) I have thought about study abroad but after much research have discovered it would not give me what i really wanted and found that actual transfer would be more beneficial and educational for me.
I am wondering what universities in the UK i could get into with my current recor... 22 Nov 08, 06:11:36
