Southampton: Finding a seasonal job?
I currently work at Ruby Tuesday, but business has been getting slower by the day, and I'm not making as much as usual. I want to get a seasonal position at a retail store like Old Navy or something to earn extra money, but I'm not sure if they are hiring this late in November. In this unstable economy, what are my prospects of finding seasonal employment? (I'm in the Washington,DC area if that helps). Also, are some good retailers to check out this time of year?...

Southampton: Falsely accused of drug use in the workplace?
A friend of mine had a part-time job at a major retail store at the mall. Once on facebook she commented that Sally is not on heroin! as a joke to her other sarcastic friends. She has never had any history or problems with substance abuse. When she came to work one day at her part-time employment, the manager pulled her aside and said she had looked Sally up on Facebook and was concerned that she had a heroin problem and didn't want her handling cash at the store. The manager had also questioned the other employees about Sally. The situation made Sally so uncomfortable at work she had to quit. My question is... is this legal? Can the manager get in trouble for this treatmen...

Southampton: Buying condo, paying mortgage with student loans? Qualifying with no income?
I'll be starting at a top ten law school in the fall, and I am thinking about buying a condo instead of renting. I have excellent credit (750s), as well as enough for a 20% down payment. I have a car worth $12,000, paid off, and no other assets. I have no credit card debt, and my student loans are almost all deferred. My only real liability at this point is a $50/month loan payment. I am looking at two-bedroom units, updated, for between $115-125k. The market where I am going to school is well-insulated, a relatively affluent college town and property values have generally appreciated very well but right now things are hitting bottom (or they seem to be). The places I am looking ...

Southampton: 14 years old, litchfield park, Arizona, and I would really like a job. Advice, please?
Well, like I said, I'm 14 (eighth grade) and I would really like to get a job in the litchfield park-goodyear area. A few questions: -Am I even allowed to aquire employment now? I know you can be hired at 14, but would being in middle school make it harder? -Where could I work? Safeway and Harkins Theater sounded like promising options, but their websites don't say much about their hiring policy. -How can I convince my parents to allow me to get a job? I'm afraid they'll consider me too young, since my older sister, (16) isn't working at the moment either. -Lastly, provided I CAN get a job, are there any special steps I would have to take considering the...

Southampton: Would everyone refinancing home loans at neighborhood banks solve the foreclosure problem? ?
Neighborhood banks don't look at customers as a percent they are concerned about the look of a neighborhood (abandoned homes) they may still use their professional knowledge as a way to prevent homes from going in to foreclosure rather than a way to steal money from unsuspecting customers. They can also take in to account employment in the area and help to fight to keep it in the neighborhood. If someone in India has stocks in a BOA mortgage it is more beneficial to give no leeway or modify a lenders mortgage with when job loss and the desire for insurance companies pay when disaster hits. It is perfectly obvious by the threats in congressional hearings to day they could care less that...

Southampton: Who thinks this is a good way to save money and create jobs?
Who thinks this is a good way to save money and create jobs? We abolish the welfare system and start over. If you want to be on welfare, you can only be on for a certain amount of years and must prove you are actively looking for employment. We can have people checking in on those who have welfare to make sure they don't lie on applications and aren't using their money on frivolous things. I used to work at a place where I saw people EVERYDAY abusing the welfare system and I am sick of it. We can save money by kicking a lot of people off of it that shouldn't be on it and we can create jobs by having those people who are on it or applying for it monitored....

Southampton: Can a place of employment pull a job listing prior to the deadline to apply that was included ?
Meaning, list a deadline for Oct. 10, for example, then pull the job on Oct. 5 and no longer accept any applications? Or is it just really unethical, but legal? It sounds like it was 3. They got overwhelmed with resumes and cannot handle anymore For what it's worth, it's with a private four-year university....
