News Articles on Driving Job in Somerset
Somerset: Driving from Illinois to Texas?
I will be spending the summer in Texas for a job. I need to drive down from the Chicago area to Houston alone. I have a GPS to get me there but from what I've heard and my own experience, it's a fairly bad idea to drive 1200 miles and 18 hours alone in one day. I was wondering if anyone has done this trip, where did you stop along the way? I would prefer a larger city to stop in but I don't want to stop too soon, preferably driving about 10-11 hours the first day and then finishing off the next. Any suggestions about where a good stop along the way might be and suggestions on how to stay entertained for that long?... 21 Mar 10, 04:03:26
Somerset: Why is there such little protection for employees in the workplace?
Not all jobs have unions. I worked for a city once before and it was the most politically corrupt workplace imagineable. People walk around smiling through their teeth all the while despising each other and trying to get each other fired behind each other's backs. I mean, even with that pathetic excuse for a security blanket employers call human resources. I've heard one too many stories of good employees reporting harassment or unfair treatment, but then getting canned over it. Then going to the EEOC only to find you need more evidence to prove your case and since everyone at your work is so terrified of losing their jobs no one will testify on your behalf. The workplace is a joke... 21 Mar 10, 03:03:09
Somerset: Should I buy a new car or fix my current one?
My brother in law is debating whether to buy a new car. He took his Toyota Camry 2007 with over $110K miles into the dealership today and it'll cost him $3500 to get a new engine. I guess he hadn't been taking as good a care and doing the regular oil changes that he should've been. They have another Toyota Sequoia car (prob about 5 yo) that they just put 2 new tires in - this one usu tows their 3 kids all 7/under. My sister is the driver of the Sequoia who is usu the one driving the kids around. The Camry is used by my brother-in-law to get to/from his 2 jobs (1-20miles RT, the other about 10miles RT from home) and is used less frequently to pickup one of the kids. They don... 21 Mar 10, 03:03:02

Somerset: I want to quit my job because i'm depressed and suicidal, please read and help.?
Basically...i'm unbelievably depressed. I'm always sad, but lately i've just gotten far worse then i've ever been. I've been contemplating suicide alot and i've even been thinking of admitting myself to psychiatric hospital. Anyways, the reason i'm depressed is because i'm lonely, but i'm far too antisocial to make friends or even hold conversations, even small talk with people. I only have one person in my life other than family, and this person has told me i'm boring and lack a personality. That person ditches me a lot, because he doesn't enjoy my company only making me feel more lonely. Anyways, i work in fast food, and i hate it. I h... 21 Mar 10, 03:03:31

Somerset: Wish my husband would help out more with our one year old.. thoughts?
In the middle of January, he got a new job and was relocated in another state. For over a month and half, we saw him maybe 3 days that entire time. It was my lowest point ever I think. We went with him for a couple days and got an apartment and in a week I had to pack up our entire house hold and have my mom and brother move it to storage for me. So we moved the 400 miles with him and I had to unpack everything. His weeks off are usually okay, but on his week to work, he's been coming home playin with the baby for 10 mins, eatin dinner that I cook and then drinking a cold beer followed by watching a movie. We don't get any more interaction from him than that now. And when he could ... 21 Mar 10, 02:03:14
