Richmond: My family is full of losers. What do you think I should do?
Sorry for writing so much, I tend to get carried away when I write. I'm 17 and a guy. I'm turning 18 in May and once I do, I'm going to start working to move out of my house. I can't stand my family. My honest opinion of them is that they are losers. Nobody has any hobbies and they sit around complaining all the time. Both of my parents dropped out of high school when they were younger. My dad ended up going back, but still doesn't have a real job. My mom tried to go back, but apparently they wouldn't let her. Now she's in her 40's complaining about how she can't go back despite the fact that she could since she just spends her time sitting ar...

Richmond: Should a job that takes a few weeks to learn pay as much as one requiring 6 years college?
If your answer is yes, then why would anyone be motivated to train for highly skilled jobs that our society needs? If we lose our motivation to become educated, what happens to our technology and sciences? What happens if you need a highly skilled surgeon? Our House Finance Committee Chair and most outspoken socialist, Barney Frank, said this week that these jobs should pay the same, and this is his stand, considering that he is highly paid by the UAW. Actually, Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard a month before he was supposed to graduate, he did not just go to school one semester. The rule of thumb is, if you can make your own world you don't need college, but if you want...

Richmond: Business or engineering career?
Hey, I'm still in high school, but 'm having trouble deciding whether I want to do business or engineering when i come out. I mean business comes really easy to me, and on the other hand engineering I've never done physics or chemistry (but I'll be willing to learn them in college). I like engineering cause i heard its a fun job to do, not to mention the pay. With business I don't know if I just like it because its easy to me, and business jobs gets pay way less than engineers. So which one?...

Richmond: Where in Italy is it good to move to?
I am an American girl, who is high school might move to Italy with my family. Where is a good place to learn the language, get a reasonably good job (for my parents), and is easy, or not difficult, to fit in? Specifically Venice, Volterra, Florence, Rome, Milan, or Vienna. BTW, don't have to be THAT specific, though appriciated......

Richmond: old navy job expectations..?
I had my first day yesterday (not training, but the first real day) and the manager basically had me be in the men's shops recovering the entire 5 hours. is this normal? I'm not sure how it all works there, like closing process and if i go through the men's shops once do i just repeat that again or ask him for some other task? i'm sure i'll learn as I go, but i hate not knowing what I'm doing. if someone could explain what i'm supposed to be doing, that would be amazing....

Richmond: In university education (undergraduate) what is the difference between ENGLISH linguistics and language?
I have to make a choice between Ling and Lang because I want to do a dual degree with another course. So what kind of things do you learn with Ling and Lang? What kind of jobs can you get with each, or can you get the same jobs with both of them? I like syntax, grammar, dialect, sociolect, etc. I'd like to study how people talk but I also would like to learn written English properly....

Richmond: What are the things that a manager looks for in approving or denying educational personal leave of absence?
I really want to go overseas to learn Mandarin. I;m hoping that my job which is at a hospital can grant me leave. My supervisors are not that great of people and we have had ordeals in the past but the manager is what you would call a yes man. I heard that when you need approval they look at your evaluation and basically your records. I have an attendance problem from last year due to medical problems with my family member. They know my situation and still tried to get me in trouble. Ive been suspended for it. My chances in going overseas sounds so slim but the hospital encourages education. Will the department deny my request of leave because of my records or are they even allowed to say n...
