Richmond: Advice on how to find a car cheap?
A friend of mine needs a car to get to and from work. His girlfriend has a disability and can't work. The guy has been working regularly for a month and a half but has bad credit because he had been out of work for a couple of years before and was having a really hard time. He now makes just above minimum wage and works full time. There is no public transportation to his place of work, it's too far to walk and too cold and often too icy to bike. For the moment I've been giving him rides but I can't keep up with this. Renting a car is too expensive, the taxi is outrageously expensive and he doesn't have a co-worker who could give him a lift. It's out of the que...

Richmond: why do Joey porters comments on michael vicks plight gain more attention than our gov's ineptitude.?
In a time when the average american has trouble making ends meet from one month to the next, why would anyone care what Joey porter thinks? it seems to me we as a people should be far more concerned with the inability of our elected officials to do anything to help us (the tax paying american citizen) have a fair chance to enhance our lives, i.e. have a decent paying job or get decent affordable health care, or get a decent retirement payment after working a lifetime to line someone Else's pockets. get real people. These pro athletes , rock stars, poor little rich kids and other public figures are the perfect example of what is wrong with this country. We really need to get it together ...

Richmond: Nonsmokers: How do you vote on proposals to ban smoking in public places & raise sales tax on cigarretes?
I for one always vote in favor of them. I am sick and tired of these inconsiderate azzholes blowing smoke all over the place. Every time I walk by them I hold my breath to ensure I don't catch any of their 2nd hand smoke. And raising sales tax on cigs to fund museums, arts, & sports stadiums, ....hey it creates jobs. It helps the economy. And since smokers are addicted, they will gladly keep paying higher prices to buy their cigarretes. I wish it were realistic to ban smoking alltogether, but it's not. People who are currently addicted could die if they suddenly stop smoking. but at least we can do everything in our power to encourage them to break their addic...

Richmond: What do you do for a living ? Is your job...?
currently in jeopardy with the economy? It seems every sector of the economy (public and private) is being effected.. I work for a municipality and most people think our jobs are safe. Our city managers have been trimming our budget/city services for two years, and now are in the process of eliminating staff . We are losing our revenue with stores closing by the scores; less food and beverage tax and other sales tax income for the city; residents not able to pay their tax/utility bills. Many of the other municipalities in our area have laid off 5 to 40 workers. Could you answer by naming your career and if you see your position being eliminated any time soon? How can our gove...
