Nottingham: Can teens have their own bank account without parents?
Ok i'm 16 years old and i have my first job. My mother is not a trustworthy person with money and informed me that her bank told her to take me in so they could put me on her account. I told her i wanted my own account and she said well you have to take me with you anyway. I just dont want her having access to my money because i know she would take it. So i need to know if i can have my own account without her having access to it or having to know anything about it to get into it....

Nottingham: im sick of everyone telling me i'm spoiled! do you think I am?
a few of my friends have jobs, and i don't. i've never had one. i tried to get one in the summer, but no one wanted to hire me. my friends have to buy everything themselves. one of my friends rolled her eyes at me when she was checking me out at the grocery store cuz i gave her a $100, and she said is that from your mom? i was yea, what's wrong with my mom giving me money to buy food?its kinda her job. her parents make her buy her own food. they make her buy her own school supplies and clothes. my parents take me out about once every few months and buy me clothes. i do chores, walk my dog, and try really hard in school. my parents won't let me get a job, b/c im failing tw...

Nottingham: Anyone with Netflix wanna do me a huge favor?
I don't have a netflix account, as I am only 16. My parents can't afford the extra 17 dollars a month or whatever it is, because mom just got a job as a teacher so we're kinda low on money right now. Microsoft just released an xbox update, and now anyone with xbox live gold and netflix can stream movies on their xbox. It doesn't cost anything extra on a netflix account, you just have to add the xbox onto the account. Is anyone with netflix willing to help me out?...

Nottingham: is it too late? some career advice?
hi. i am doing my undergrad degree in bioengineering right now. i have chosen this major cos i love biology and i used to be good at maths and physics. and i chose this one over biomed sciences cos i think it's more challenging and the career prospects are better. now i found out that it was a huge mistake. after all, i am not enjoying the extra maths and physics from my engineering degree course and the little or nonexistent biology component of it. i recently read an article about 'women in science' written by an academic from MIT and i knew where i went all wrong. i have a very friendly, bubbly and helpful character which makes me better suited for jobs that are more pe...

Nottingham: Are there any good paying sites? ?
I want to work from home. I'm 16 so I'm still in school and with the economy like it is, I have not been able to get a job. (Trust me, I've tried) So are there any good, honest sites that will pay me by the hour to do whatever; take surveys, type up stuff, whatever. Another thing is I need one with NO SIGN UP FEE, and NO FEES AT ALL. If you could help me in my quest to start saving up for college please please help me. One last thing, I'm looking for a place that will send me a check in the mail, not through paypal, because seeing that I'm not 18 I cannot have a paypal account. Thank You So Much! Another note, I would really prefer just taking surveys, not filling ou...

Nottingham: Financial Representative - is there a catch?
I recently received a job offer to act as a financial representative for a company. It was made vaguely clear that it was a customer service-type role, but basically said that I'd be accepting invoice payment on the company's behalf, and receive a salary as well as a commission for each payment. Is this a safe job to get into? Are there any catches I need to know about before I make a decision? I don't really want anyone hacking into my bank account or landing me into hot water with the law or anything. But because of various banking and legal restrictions, we are unable to open commercial bank accounts in Australia. As such, [company name] is recruiting partne...

Nottingham: Should I quit my job, and take a lower paying job that's closer to home?
I takes me one hour to drive to work, and another hour to come back from work. It's 2 hours of commuting per day, that's 10 hours of commuting per week, and 40 hours of commuting per month. The salary at my job is not bad, and it's not good either. I was offered a job at an office 2 blocks away from my house. The salary is lower, but if I take into account how much money I'll save, it's pretty much the same money. And there won't be any commuting. I've worked at my current job for 4 years, and I think my chances of a promotion are the same now, as they were on my first day of work. So, should I quit my current job?...

Nottingham: My previous job stopped payment on checks they gave me after termination....?
So I had 3 total checks issued as my last checks... One was for Overtime, another for the one day of October I had worked, and then one for my commission. It took them two week to issue me the first two (Overtime and the single day of work). I deposited them in my bank account as they where presented to me as my final checks and the commissions check was on it's way.... Once my commission check arrived (almost another two weeks later) I deposited it. I was looking at my bank account and the first two checks they gave me they had stopped payment on them. The reason why: I did not earn the O/T, and then the day of work was re-issued in that final commission check. ...
