Norwich: Business or engineering career?
Hey, I'm still in high school, but 'm having trouble deciding whether I want to do business or engineering when i come out. I mean business comes really easy to me, and on the other hand engineering I've never done physics or chemistry (but I'll be willing to learn them in college). I like engineering cause i heard its a fun job to do, not to mention the pay. With business I don't know if I just like it because its easy to me, and business jobs gets pay way less than engineers. So which one?... 22 Nov 08, 06:11:23
Norwich: Where in Italy is it good to move to?
I am an American girl, who is high school might move to Italy with my family. Where is a good place to learn the language, get a reasonably good job (for my parents), and is easy, or not difficult, to fit in? Specifically Venice, Volterra, Florence, Rome, Milan, or Vienna. BTW, don't have to be THAT specific, though appriciated...... 22 Nov 08, 06:11:31
Norwich: old navy job expectations..?
I had my first day yesterday (not training, but the first real day) and the manager basically had me be in the men's shops recovering the entire 5 hours. is this normal? I'm not sure how it all works there, like closing process and if i go through the men's shops once do i just repeat that again or ask him for some other task? i'm sure i'll learn as I go, but i hate not knowing what I'm doing. if someone could explain what i'm supposed to be doing, that would be amazing.... 22 Nov 08, 06:11:01

Norwich: In university education (undergraduate) what is the difference between ENGLISH linguistics and language?
I have to make a choice between Ling and Lang because I want to do a dual degree with another course. So what kind of things do you learn with Ling and Lang? What kind of jobs can you get with each, or can you get the same jobs with both of them?
I like syntax, grammar, dialect, sociolect, etc. I'd like to study how people talk but I also would like to learn written English properly.... 22 Nov 08, 05:11:10
Norwich: What are the things that a manager looks for in approving or denying educational personal leave of absence?
I really want to go overseas to learn Mandarin. I;m hoping that my job which is at a hospital can grant me leave. My supervisors are not that great of people and we have had ordeals in the past but the manager is what you would call a yes man. I heard that when you need approval they look at your evaluation and basically your records. I have an attendance problem from last year due to medical problems with my family member. They know my situation and still tried to get me in trouble. Ive been suspended for it. My chances in going overseas sounds so slim but the hospital encourages education. Will the department deny my request of leave because of my records or are they even allowed to say n... 22 Nov 08, 05:11:34
Norwich: US teasing foreigners because of accents and why people don't get it's mutual?
I know a lot of foreigners cause I live in a diverse part of Chicago, and since I'm a minority with them, I try to understand and get along with them. I was born here, so I speak both Spanish and English fluently. I know a lot of foreigners who hate English speakers(in a more general term, the White Americans) because they constantly make fun of their accent.
This is my question, why don't people realize this is the same treatment in other countries? When my English friend moved to Wales for a while, she got picked on by some because she didn't speak Welsh. And when she tried to, she was ridiculed by her accent being bad. I'm sure it's this way when pe... 22 Nov 08, 03:11:09

Norwich: Am I quietly losing the game of life?
Okay, I'm going to try and fit as much of this in here as possible:
I'm twenty years old, have a semester of college under my belt (took some gen-eds), drove across the country to california over the summer, and my transmission died. No problem, it was great. I had a blast. After staying there for a couple of months I caught a plane back to my hometown, and now I'm living with my aunt who i think is having some sort of mid life crisis. Unfortunately, I have nowhere else to go right now, but that's fine. I'm dealing with it. For the most part she just drinks wine and talks about conspiracy theories , and I ignore her.
Since I cant afford another... 22 Nov 08, 12:11:50
