Norwich: What jobs are safe during these hard economic times?
I recently graduated with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and was offered a job from an Oil and Gas service company as a Field Engineer, and another job offer from Union Pacific Railroad as an Engineering manager (Operations Manager). Both of them pay about the same.
I have no idea which one to g for. But as you know, many companies might be going out of business in a few years from now, and I wanna work for a long lasting company. I just do not wanna get laid off after a year or so.
Any advices?
Thank you so much guys!... 22 Nov 08, 06:11:37

Norwich: Is there an online resource for beginning teachers who are relocating?
I'm about to graduate in a couple of weeks, and I'm seriously considering taking a job offer to teach secondary English a few hours away in a small town that I have never even visited. I can't afford to wait around for an opening in my county or any of the surrounding ones.
My concern is that I'm moving to a new place with a new job in the dead of winter (ours is not a warm climate). It's a small town, so of course there are no apartment listings online. Would it be considered appropriate to ask the personnel department at the board office if they know of any available places to rent? When I do finish my student teaching and visit the area, I'll be able t... 22 Nov 08, 01:11:56

Norwich: Does religion matter in marraige?
Hey I'm wondering if religion matters in marraige. I'm just over 24 and she's about the same age. Of course, we definetely won't get married anytime soon but I've almost graduated and our plan is that we get a job, wait another five years then only get engaged. Marraige will follow in about one and a half years after that.
However, one thing stands in our way. I'm a free thinker (and so has my dad and grandad) while she's a staunch Catholic. Do I need to convert to Catholism or???
Thanks for your advice.
I just said that we want to just get registered when we do get married no ceremony just the registrations and she was ok with it.... 22 Nov 08, 01:11:30
