Norwich: How do I get my first Job on an oil rig?
I'm trying to get an entry level position on an oil rig. I'm currently located in Houston, TX I don't have any previous working experience, but I've completed a Pre-employment floorhand training program at a school accredited by the IADC.
My first choice would be on a Land rig, because the instructor said typically guys on land rigs move up the ranks faster than offshore because there is a higher employee turnaround rate.
Also I would like to stay in the us, and in TX
Both of the preferences listed above are just that... preferences, I'm still open too other oppurtunities as well, because my first priority is getting the first job so I can have some experi... 22 Nov 08, 11:11:17

Right now does not at all seem like a good time to try to re-enter the job market but I have little choice as my husband lost his job after 23 years and we will lose income no matter what we do. I am trying to figure out how to address my employment history. I am only 31 so I have very little history - just the jobs I had in high school and college. I have a bachelors degree in business management. Should I return to school? Should I list stay at home mom on the application to explain the gap or just leave the gap? I'm not sure how to even start.... 22 Nov 08, 04:11:29
