Milton Keynes: My UC Personal statement...?
I would like comments on my personal statement... I need to expand it yes, but is there anything else I should add or omit or strengthen. The summer between my junior and senior years in high school began with much anticipation and great expectations. I had obtained my first “real” job working in the finance department at _________ City Hall, I was congratulating myself on a great academic year, and my free time would be spent honing my golf game. Life seemed surreal…too good to be true. Then, within the span of two weeks, my nuclear life was irreversibly altered, presenting me with challenges that will test every fiber of my being. Life first seemed to careen out of control whe...

Milton Keynes: I need help deciding my major!?
I'm going to college this January. I have no clue what I want to major in. I know that I do not have to decide my major until the end of my sophomore year but I would like to at least narrow my decision down. I'm going to give you a little background info on me. I'm pretty handy with computers. I can unassemble and reassemble them pretty easily. I like technology, specifically new technology. Say for example, I purchased a laptop that was supposed to have all the new features, then a month later another company comes out with a newer version. I would sell my month-old laptop and purchase the new one; I like all types of new technology. However, this may be a lot of people as w...

Milton Keynes: Editing a book that my husband's writing... will a publisher allow me to do this?
My husband is currently writing a book and is asking me to edit it. I have a B.A. in English with an emphasis in professional writing. Editing is my strong suit, so whenever he completes it, I'd like to have that editing work on my resume since I have only a few months of real-world editing experience aside from my academic experience. For those of you familiar with the ins and outs of writing and getting published, is this a feasible option? I'm hoping that editing an entire novel will serve as a good stepping stone for when I decide to take on a steady editing job later on. Any advice on this is appreciated!...

Milton Keynes: Dissatisfied with job: how can I choose a more satisfying career?
I am one of those people who never decided what they wanted to do for a living. I got a BA in English, later went to graduate school to study Art History (big mistake), then floated though some retail jobs before landing in an admin support job. I've read half a dozen career books and even seen a career counselor, but this hasn't helped. I'm not cut out to be an academic (as I learned in grad school). I am also extremely shy and do not enjoy/excel at interacting with people. I have thought about editing, but all the ads are looking for people who have several years of experience which I (in my late 30s!) do not have. I feel my coursework in English and Art History was a big wa...

I'm getting a bachelors in psychology and my minor is in business administration. I'm thinking of which route to take after I graduate in a year. I'm interested in academic advising at the college level and working in human resources. Which job is the best overall and what kind of experience is needed to do both, like can I get started with a bachelors or do I need to get a masters?...
