Kindly give me reasons to choose a career in Industrial Engineering or Engineering Management?
I have my bachelors from a foreign university and I have not been able to get a job with my degree in Quantity Surveying. Consequently, I intend to go to grad school for a degree that would build on my foundation in construction engineering and management and yet offer optimum versatility in the current economy. Your suggestion/advise is very much appreciated. Thanks... 22 Nov 08, 06:11:59

Milton Keynes: When you apply for a job, what is generally the most important thing employers look at and how important...?
.. is your college GPA?
I am a sophomore in college right now studying civil engineering. I transferred schools after my freshman year (switched to a better school). I had a 3.2 at the first school, but this semester I've been doing absolutely terrible (had to drop one class and I'm getting a lot of C's and maybe even a D). I'm confident that I can bring my GPA up but these crappy grades are going to weigh it down.
How much harder will it be to land a job with a mediocre GPA?
Also, I will hopefully be working for a civil engineering firm this summer, what kind of factor does having internships on your resume have
also, any other tips about building a solid resum... 22 Nov 08, 04:11:30

Best - Janet Napolitano (this chicks name gives me a hankering for some ice cream(parenthesis within parenthesis the spell checker likes the ice cream idea too)) but seriously I have hopes shes going to do a good job.
Worst- HRC- probably will engineer a few more missile sales to hostile nations.... 22 Nov 08, 03:11:35
Milton Keynes: Should i not feel bad that my major was a Foreign language(most people think it's stupid to majorInLanguages)?
I always feel embarrased to tell people my major but it's a question that always comes up. In Work interviews, with family, etc etc.
And when people see that i majored in foreign language, and moreover a language that has no use where i live, they fake being impressed by it but i know that deep inside they are thinking What a stupid a**, why he chose that stupid major
Because my major is not something that is valued and glorified in society( ie. Computer Science, Engineering) i always feel really bad when asked what my major is. Can't people just not ask..... i guess not. So what should i do to feel good about it?
I'm 28 male, i'm not a recent graduate... 22 Nov 08, 02:11:22

I am 46 years old now.. only 14 years younger than Gaby, my aunt and the last time I saw her and my cousin was 30 years ago at age 15. Then all of a sudden she sent me a short email. Black Testicles?
A male patient is lying in bed in the hospital, wearing an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose, still heavily sedated from a difficult four hour, surgical procedure.
A young, student nurse appears to give him a partial sponge bath.
Nurse , he mumbles, from behind the mask. Are my testicles black?
Embarrassed, the young nurse replies, I don't know, Sir. I'm only here to wash your upper body and feet.
He struggles to ask again, Nurse, are my testicles black? Concerned that he may elevate his vitals from worry about his testicles, she overcomes her embarrassment and sheepishly pulls back the covers. She raise... 22 Nov 08, 12:11:12
