Keswick: How do I get my first Job on an oil rig?
I'm trying to get an entry level position on an oil rig. I'm currently located in Houston, TX I don't have any previous working experience, but I've completed a Pre-employment floorhand training program at a school accredited by the IADC.
My first choice would be on a Land rig, because the instructor said typically guys on land rigs move up the ranks faster than offshore because there is a higher employee turnaround rate.
Also I would like to stay in the us, and in TX

I am a British citizen with dual Irish nationality, though I am not the most attractive of applicants with a basic secondary school education I have always had a dream of moving across the pond. Unfortunately, as life does, things have always got in the way until now. I have been fortunate enough to have a boss who has allowed me to bring my newborn to work with me. I work in an attorney's office for 2 attorneys. My now 5 mo. old has been coming to work with me since he was 2 mos. old. It's been kind of up and down. He is a really good baby, but I think sometimes he gets bored. I try as best I can to devote a lot of attention to him, but it's difficult when I have to answer the phone or type a letter, etc... I was reading a few articles on the state of the current republican party and it seems like to me just from the general feeling; that they might even be a party more divided in the future.
