Keswick: How can I politely decline an internship after I have already accepted it?
I interviewed with a PR firm, and was offered an internship that can turn into a permanent position in a few months. I am supposed to start Monday, but all of a sudden I have a job offer for an actual full-time position with an advertising organization, and I was interviewed for another position today and its looking good.. I love this firm I would do an internship with, and I really dont want to burn my bridges..I want to let them know its strictly a financial decision. Any suggestions?... 21 Nov 08, 09:11:41

I have a job right now making above avergae salary, but I have three days off a week and I'm looking for another job to pass some time and to have extra money for Christmas plus to pay off bills faster. I've applied everywhere(yes, even Target,a few book stores,Blockbuster,JC Penny,Lowe's)and even though every company advertises that they're hiring and they have 20+ positions available,i get zero calls, and I applied over 2 months ago,and yes, they're STILL HIRING. Keswick: advertising and graphic design degrees in Miami?
I have an Associate of Science in Graphic Design which basically taught me all I really need to know with the programs used in Design. I got lucky and managed to land a job as a graphic/web assistant for an online curriculum publisher. However I want to get a bachelors and the only place I can afford is FIU and the closest thing to Graphic Design they have is Advertising. What can I do with an advertising degree and Graphic design experience? Especially here in Miami?
Would it be better to get a bachelors in something else? Like Hospitality Management? I do live in Miami and that is a good business here in case I can't find work in design afterward.
HELP! Any opinions or... 21 Nov 08, 04:11:03
Keswick: Because of the economic crash should we end all new immigration immediately?
At my company we advertised for some jobs and got hundreds of workers that applied for the jobs but instead of hiring a regular American they hired someone that was brought over on a special VISA form overseas. I heard there was many qualified applicants but they wanted to pay less so they claimed there was no qualified Americans so they could get a low paid foreigner.
I think in today's economy there should be a stop of all immigration. Jobs should be for Americans in today's tough economy!
Agree?... 21 Nov 08, 02:11:42
Keswick: Can anyone tell me please?
Can anyone enlighten me as to why the civil service seem to be furiously advertising jobs (whose salaries will be paid by the taxpayer) when everyone else is getting laid off?

If the country is in so much debt and we are trying to save money, why don't they cut back on civil servants? Check out the scrolling job vacancies on the bottom right of this page.

Keswick: Why is it that America supposedly has money/opportunities, yet no one can find jobs here, & many are broke?
I mean really. All around me I see frustration, people being broke, can't find jobs, all sorts of bad living conditions, stress, anxiety, mental problems, .....where's all the money? Where are all the opportunities? It's also getting dirty, overpopulated, ...mean, nasty.
This country is turning into a nightmare.
So why are we false advertising?... 21 Nov 08, 06:11:36
