Ipswich: Is dropping out, getting my GED, and going to college sooner better for me?
Ok I am a high school senior right now. Yes I understand I don't have that much longer to go but at this point all of the classes I am taking have absolutely no point. I am almost done with my first semester at my high school. And two out of four of next semesters classes are electives and the other two are calculus (I have never met someone who has used this) and American history. At my school the academic classes are insanely easy and Ive tried the AP history which brings me to my next point. I failed my AP history class last year and am now in night school. I now have to somehow get $115 more to pay for it by Dec 17. I have a job (one that sucks and one i just started so i wont be ge... 03 Dec 08, 09:12:41
Ipswich: How much do colleges value volunteer work and community service?
If you haven't read my previous questions, I'm a junior in high school set on going to Georgetown University to study international relations and american government in particular. I'm a straight A student in all honors courses and will take 5 AP courses in the next year and a half (AP US, AP Eng, AP French, AP Environmental Sci., and AP Stat and Prob.) I'm not too worried about my academics (I'll be fighting my procrastinating tendencies to make sure I excel in those AP courses), I'll be taking the SAT in January and in the spring and I've done plenty of studying and researching SAT prep. I'm the president of 2 clubs (french and ultimate frisbee) and ... 03 Dec 08, 04:12:04

I'm trying to get into UCSC. I have a 3.66 gpa, a 1710 sat, and with my essay, do you think i have a good chance? thanks!
The last twelve years of my life would be impossible to quantify in a stat sheet and a thousand words or less. It is best described as a concoction of stories and experiences that resemble the characteristics inherent to any great novel. All the fundamentals of classic literature are there: excitement, curiosity, gain, loss, accomplishment, misfortune, victory and defeat. The roots of my development are embedded in my bloodlines, as well as my environment. I am the youngest of four brothers, raised in a setting where my parents encouraged personal individualism. Ipswich: Do you think I could get into Georgetown University?
If you don't think I can, how do you think I can improve my chances? I'm a Junior, I've had a 4.00 for the past 2 years (all honors classes, soon I'll be taking a ton of AP courses), I'm the president of the French Club and Ultimate Frisbee Club. Next year I'll be in NHS and Key Club. I volunteer at an elementary school, and soon the animal shelter and the public library, and next summer I'll do Girls State. I also have a part-time job. I'm mostly worried because I'm not very athletic and I don't go to church, and all of my friends have done countless things with their churches and have played some sort of sport for 8 or so years. I've b... 02 Dec 08, 02:12:12
Ipswich: I need someone experienced with UC personal statements (10 Points BA)?
I'm worried about my personal statement. I submitted my application to UC already but am wondering whether or not my personal statement was good enough. I was hoping to get info from someone who has experience with UC's. I am a transfer student from a community college. I am a sociology major. I have a 3.8 gpa and my counselor already told me that is good enough to get into my number 1 choice UCLA but the only thing I have left to worry about is my personal statement. Please give me feedback. I feel like people aren't giving me constructive critisism rather than compliments on it.
