Inverness: Can you make me feel better? I just lost my job.?
I just graduated with a Finance degree in May. (Great choice, huh?) Since then, I have been let go twice. The first time was for budget reasons. And then I got a job at a temp service. I thought they liked me, and they even offered me a full time position in 2 months when my contract with the temp agency was up. I guess I did something wrong though because the temp agency just called and said that they let me go.
Any words of encouragement and prayers are appreciated.
Thank you.
I'm getting married in 10 months too. Now I don't know how I am going to afford that, or a decent honeymoon.
Yesterday was so much brighter.
It took me 2 months just to find a job at a temp place. Ho... 02 Dec 08, 01:12:16
Inverness: Should I break up with my Boyfriend?
We've been living together for a little over a year, dating for about six months longer than that. I'm very picky. I rarely dated anyone until him and he is essentially my first serious relationship. I used to joke with my friends, because I'm very focused on having a job and going to college and because I've never been a dater. Things have changed in my life lately, I've moved away from those friends(hence I'm asking strangers), and I'm in love. I prefer to go home and be with him instead of doing things I used to, like working overtime, going hiking, and going to the gym. I miss those things though. But I love him and being close to him more. He treats me... 02 Dec 08, 01:12:21
Inverness: Living with your girlfriend. Share or split down the middle?
I living in a one bedroom apartment with my girlfriend. We had a system going until we both lost our jobs and now we're in a financial crisis. But that's not the issue being addressed here.
Both myself and my girlfriend have talked to our moms about advice for our finances and they both say something on complete opposite sides of the spectrum:
Her mom says that we need to put all the money together in one account and pay the bills together because we're a couple. I see the point she's making, but my girlfriend can't hold a job very well and she has nearly drained my entire savings that I built up since I was 14 (I'm now 21).
My mom says that we need to ... 02 Dec 08, 01:12:38
Inverness: have you ever felt lost in life? I'm in a critical point in my life and I feel real uneasy.?
I been yearning. I don't know what I want. Times are so critical now because i'm in my early 20s and I don't know exactly what career I want. I am just not 100 percent sure. I been struggling to find a job and i'm still in college so yeah. I do have a job though. I dont' have any friends. The last time I hungout with a friend was atleast last year. I was real shy so i didn't make any friends in hs. I choose not to hangout with some for a good reason. I want to experience my youth. I missed soo much on life. It wouldn't hurt to just have someone to talk to or go to the movies with. Play basketball, etc. Just someone to talk to with... 01 Dec 08, 11:12:58
Inverness: As a SAHM, how would you have reacted to this?
I was in the store yesterday and while standing in line to check out the lady behind me commented on my son's charming socialization (he's a social butterfly!) and we started chatting some in while standing in line. She asked what daycare I used and I said I don't and that I'm a stay at home mom. She asked how we managed to stay on top of our finances on a one salary income and I said we manage fine because we go without extras. She then had a complete attitude change and said that if I ever want my kids to have the necessities in life then I would need to find a job and start pulling my weight around the family!
After I picked up my jaw off the floor, I told her th... 01 Dec 08, 09:12:19
Inverness: Is Birmingham's Mayor an idiot, crook, or both?
The mayor of Alabama's largest city, a player in a multibillion dollar sewer bond deal that drove the surrounding county to the brink of bankruptcy, was arrested on Monday on federal criminal charges, an FBI spokesman said.
Larry Langford was taken into custody around 7 a.m. Monday, spokesman Paul Daymond said. It wasn't immediately clear what charges Langford faces.
Authorities are planning to say more at a morning news conference.
Langford was president of the Jefferson County Commission before he was elected mayor last year. Birmingham is in Jefferson County.
He was accused in a Securities and Exchange Commission lawsuit of taking more than $156,000 from a friend who... 01 Dec 08, 09:12:40
Inverness: High paying careers that do NOT require a professional school degree (MBA, Ph.D etc.)?
My father is an accountant, and while accountants do make a pretty good salary, I want to make more than that.
I was looking into medical school but med students have told me there are many different ways (much easier ways) to make money and on top of that, the really lucrative specialties only take a very small number of people and that really drew me away, which in a way is good because I wasn't in the whole medical scene for the patients, so I would have never survived in medicine anyway.
I kind of figured that if I want to make more, I need to go to professional school (business school) or have SOME kind of graduate degree but then my dad said that it wasn't necessary.

Inverness: Will there be any ban on me to UAE on visa cancellation before joining?
Hi, I am a finance professional and recently visited UAE for a job search. Fortunately, I got two offers from different companies, both with a lag of one week. I accepted the first one, and gave them a copy of my passport and photographs, and we agreed to wait for the degree attestation before they could apply for the visa. Now, after a week, I got the other offer and that was more relevant and better in salary and everything, so i abandoned my choice of the first one. three days after that, I received an e-mail from the first company giving my visa for a Clerk , that i was not willing to join anymore. I sent them a reply by excusing them, and requested them to cancel the visa. I ... 01 Dec 08, 07:12:44
