Henley On Thames: MA degree in Middle East Studies and cant find a job!?
OK so I didnt go all the way thru to the PhD, but come on! This thing has to be good for something! Ive applied at all colleges in my area, but the turnover in teaching is so bad. Ive also applied at all language schools for Arabic, even asked them if they were interested in adding it, but it seems they all want me to be a linguist or native speaker. I tried an Islamic school, but they seem to want me to have a teaching credential (I was kind of offended since I have my Masters degree and have taught college age students.) Im starting now to look into jobs at the airports working for airlines, but there's nothing!
What have I not thought of?... 19 Nov 08, 10:11:58

Henley On Thames: Why did the President of GM spend $40K to visit congress?
The president of GM has testified in front of congress for the past couple of days pleading for tax payer money to bail their sorry butts out. But this guy is way too good to fly commercial to go to Washington.
According to United Airlines web site, a 1st class refundable ticket from Detroit to Washington DC booked today for tomorrow and coming back on Friday is $1,500. This guy spent $40K on flights. Or $38,500 more than he had too. This takes balls in my opinion to spend this kind of money on flights and then ask Congress for money.
I am totally against any type of bailout for the big three automakers. Sorry boys and girls, but this shows that GM is poorly run and makes bad... 19 Nov 08, 09:11:05
Henley On Thames: What is it with negative people(long)?
This is something to think about when negative people are doing their best to rain on your parade. Remember this story the next time someone tries to make your life miserable.
A woman was at her hairdresser's getting her hair styled for a trip to Rome with her husband. She mentioned the trip to the hairdresser, who responded:
' Rome? Why would anyone want to go there? It's crowded and dirty. You're crazy to go to Rome. How are you getting there?'
'We're taking Continental,' was the reply. 'We got a great rate!'
'Continental?' exclaimed the hairdresser. ' That's a terrible airline. Their planes are old, their flight a... 19 Nov 08, 03:11:28

Henley On Thames: Anyone else hate being married to an airline pilot?
I am having a really hard time with my husband and his job as a commercial airline pilot. I try my very best not to complain about the amount of time he is away from home, but when you have a baby and no help from your spouse 4 days a week, it can be hard to keep my mouth shut. Are pilots a different breed? He is quiet, has a hard time communicating and is not the same man I met. I'm positive he isn't cheating but I feel the emotional connection is gone. I am having a very difficult time with this and want to know if other women feel resentful towards their pilot husbands and if it ever gets better. Thanks!... 19 Nov 08, 05:11:27
Henley On Thames: What makes you more Competitive ?
How does it work? What things make you more competitive when you go to apply for a airline job?
Say you don't have a college degree...BUT the airline's general requirements are a 4yr degree BUT you have a slew of hours and ratings. Will that make up for it? Will more of one thing make up for a lack in another?
Last thing is..American has 10,000+ pilot's Delta with7,000+ United with 6,000+ So on and on. That's a lot of pilot's in total if you add up all the airline's. Is it somewhat easy to get a job as a airline pilot, and whats the outlook in 2012-2016ish?
One more thing. Will the government bail out airline's?... 19 Nov 08, 12:11:47

Henley On Thames: Will we see food riots in UK, US and Europe?
Farmers can't get credit for crops, stores can't get credit for stock, airlines and haulage companies are going bust, if oil drops below $45 a barrel oil companies will go bust. These are just a fraction of the supply chain issues.
I have noticed much less food in the stores, I went into Sainsbury's today and where they once had a wide selection of fruit and veg had been replaced with loads and loads of tomatoes and cucumbers. It is clear they are filling the shelves with what they have got but the choice of products is dwindeling.
There are loads of other issues such as job losses and currency instability that could lead to a total breakdown.
Most of our food these... 18 Nov 08, 06:11:02
Henley On Thames: Have you ever meditated on;The Wonder of Instinctive Wisdom?
“Migration is probably the most awe-inspiring natural phenomenon.”—COLLINS ATLAS OF BIRD MIGRATION.
ON December 9, 1967, an airline pilot spotted a flock of about 30 whooper swans flying toward Ireland at the amazing altitude of 27,000 feet [8,200 m]. Why were they flying so high, where the air temperature was about 40 degrees below zero Fahrenheit [-40°C]? Besides escaping the persistent snow squalls at lower altitudes, they were riding a wind current that gave them a ground speed of about 125 miles [200 km] an hour. It was estimated that the birds completed their 800-mile [1,300 km] flight from Iceland to Ireland in just seven hours.
The world champion migrator—the arctic te... 18 Nov 08, 06:11:52
