Harrow: Dissatisfied with job: how can I choose a more satisfying career?
I am one of those people who never decided what they wanted to do for a living. I got a BA in English, later went to graduate school to study Art History (big mistake), then floated though some retail jobs before landing in an admin support job. I've read half a dozen career books and even seen a career counselor, but this hasn't helped. I'm not cut out to be an academic (as I learned in grad school). I am also extremely shy and do not enjoy/excel at interacting with people. I have thought about editing, but all the ads are looking for people who have several years of experience which I (in my late 30s!) do not have. I feel my coursework in English and Art History was a big wa... 20 Nov 08, 01:11:46
Harrow: What career has the best outlook and most rewarding? HR or Academic Advising?
I'm getting a bachelors in psychology and my minor is in business administration. I'm thinking of which route to take after I graduate in a year. I'm interested in academic advising at the college level and working in human resources. Which job is the best overall and what kind of experience is needed to do both, like can I get started with a bachelors or do I need to get a masters?... 20 Nov 08, 12:11:39
Harrow: What are my chances of admission at the following schools? ?
What are my chances of admission at the following schools?
I am high school sophomore. I currently have a weighted 96 GPA (roughly a 4.0, according to Princeton Review), am enrolled, on average, in 2 or 3 Pre AP classes a year, have a great grasp (I wouldn't say fluent, but by the end of the end of high school I will be) in Spanish and French (as well as, of course, my native English), have won numerous Journalism awards, am involved in UIL Academic Team, Newspaper, Debate and Speech, FCS (Fellowship of Christian Students), Spanish Club, French Club (I'm on the French Club Social Committee), Student Council, and the Eco Club. I have been published in my city's newspaper as w... 19 Nov 08, 11:11:10

Harrow: Where can I pursue a Phd. related to domestic terrorism studies?
I intend to go to graduate school to pursue a Phd. and become a professor upon completion. I have spoken with some of my professors who have said it is much harder to get a teaching job if you receive a doctorate in an interdisciplinary or unique study that is not universal (ie: Terrorism Studies versus Political Science). Would you agree with this? I also understand that it is becoming increasingly hard to land a job as a Political Science professor. Could I pursue a Sociology degree with a Domestic Terrorism focus? Please do not direct me to International Studies programs. Any assistance, especially by professors or similar academics, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!... 19 Nov 08, 04:11:03
Harrow: Can anyone here help me revise my cover letter? ?
Dear Sir/Madam:
Your advertisement of recruiting a translator is appealing to me. The available position you described sounds exactly like the kind of job I’m seeking
According to the advertisement, the position requires qualification including “major in English and “proficiency in both written and oral English” and “CET-6 certificate.” I’m confident that I can meet these requirements very well. I have graduated from Jangsu institution of Economic & Trade Technology this year. My study includes Business English, oral English, translation and so on. Most importantly, I’ve successfully finished these subjects at a very high level. I have solidly grasped the princip... 19 Nov 08, 03:11:38
