Harrow: I would like to move to the USA, and get a green card how?
I am a British citizen with dual Irish nationality, though I am not the most attractive of applicants with a basic secondary school education I have always had a dream of moving across the pond. Unfortunately, as life does, things have always got in the way until now. I'm confused by the vast amount of information on the internet but I think I would qualify initially for an H2B visa, but suspect if I wanted to stay on when that finished I would be breaking some sort of rule if i wanted to stay or become a full citizen (if that was possible?) so I'm not sure if this would be the right route to follow. Also, if this were the case where do I start applying for jobs (from the UK) befor... 20 Nov 08, 08:11:21
Harrow: Hotel Manager or Photojournalist?
Ok guys, help me out.
First of all, I've never worked in a hotel. But, I am currently taking classes that will pave my way to become a hotel manager. I have what it takes and with this career, I wouldn't really have to worry about stability because I intend to work in Las Vegas, where there are many hotels looking for managers.
Then again...I am utterly addicted to taking pictures, traveling and learning new things (esp. languages) I can picture myself living a life behind the lens...and I'm not talking about pursuing a career in taking pictures of weddings, birthday parties or sport related events. I'm talking about the kind of photographer who'll snap... 20 Nov 08, 07:11:16

Harrow: Waiters: DO you love the hospitality industry? ?
Why or why not:
Back Story:
after climbing into the industry two years ago, My second job has always been bartending or serving. My first (9-5) job is Marketing.
It is always hard to find a position that starts at 6:00 PM. . . but I have managed for a few years.
In my particular case now, I am in desperate need of advice.
I accepted a cocktail waitress position in August at a wine and martini bar in a great “yuppie” neighborhood over a choice bartending position downtown. After speaking with both owners I believed the martini bar would be a better place to beef up my bartending skills, service attitude and perhaps move to management in the future. The mar... 19 Nov 08, 09:11:23

Harrow: retraining versus crappy job i like.?
I left uni during my first year and have been managing ever since in the hospitality trade doing pubs, clubs, wine bars and restaurants. Its probably the only job I can imagine myself doing and certainly the only one I can think of I would actually enjoy doing.
Problem is, it doesnt pay that well, the hours are awful, it takes over your life and isnt the most reliable of professions in the world.
Mr dream would be to continue doing this job while still relatively young at 25, working abroads in US or Canada but it seems that this is going to be impossible thanks to anal immigration laws.
I know I wouldnt enjoy it, but I have been considering re-training for a career in IT but dont know... 17 Nov 08, 12:11:28
