Halifax: High School Athletes Minimum GPA requirement ARGUMENTS? ?
I am writing an Argumentative Essay on the issue that high school athletes should be required to have a 3.0 average to participate in sports. I am for this and my main reasons are that education is important for the future and should be put before sports because athletes have a small chance of obtaining a career from sports and that students who are dedicated to sports will be more encouraged to work hard in school in order to participate in doing what they enjoy. I need to state opposing views of the issue and demonstrate that I understand the other side in all its complexity. Does anyone know of or have any COUNTER ARGUMENTS in dealing with this issue/advice on how to a...

Halifax: Is this normal to give up on pharmacy career? some advice..?
i been working in the pharmacy for 3 years as a tech. been going prepharm classes and was thinking of major in biology (but i hate biology, sure concepts are great but it is nothing but mundane pure memorization, no offense!) I feel like it makes me depressed and i been stuck in a pharmacy for too long and just need something that makes me happy. it's also a bitch to get accepted into pharmacy schools, why can't you just get a BS in pharmacy, they arleady stopped that, now you have to get a science related BS degree then apply to pharmacy school and spend 4 more years. why couldnt it just be a 4 year degree? then you have to pass the 2 state exams, i feel like this is bull shit an...

Halifax: Question about college admissions?
So, I got suspended for 5 days early in my second year of high school. After I got suspended i would dwell on it b/c of college apps and such but i got over it because that all seemed distant. In my third year of high school was the same, i would think what a dumb mistake i made but it wasn't much of a concern. I am in my last year of high school and college apps seemed distant until recently as i gotta get things out in about a month. So fortunately or unfortunately I have to revisit the suspension and deal with it because it is relevant now. I am a serious student, i am at the top of my class, i have good scores, etc. But my biggest problem is my suspension because what i did in my se...

Halifax: need advice on other potential career paths for an accounting & finance degree holder?
Hey all! I am about to complete an accounting and finance degree, but I still do not like the idea of going into accounting. Yet, I can't seem to think of any other specific jobs or career paths with good future opportunities that I could take that doesn't require specialised knowledge. Eg to work in a museum or geology centre, you need qualifications. I have realised that an important factor to me is the workplace surroundings. (Eg access to nature or something aesthetically beautiful, hence the above examples) It would be nice if this was taken into consideration. Any suggestions would be helpful. Many thanks!...

Halifax: In need of serious career help?
Ok to start off I'm going to list my current situation with as much detail as possible. I'm a 27 year old, single, male, living alone at my apartment. Bills are high and I have a hard time making ends meet. Right now I'm working at Wal-Mart (please no unnecessary bad comments about that company) third shift, and I'd like to go on days, because I've been on 3 shift for 6 years and it sucks. I'm also going to a community college to get a 1 year degree in drafting. My problem is that I'm not really into drafting and I'm wondering if it's worth it to get the degree in it if I'm not that excited about it in the first place. I just cannot sum...

Halifax: Law Enforcement Career and Qualifications?
I'm a high energy person and like a job that does likewise. I have always been drawn to law enforcement and if I would do it I would like to be like a DEA agent or ATF or something llike that. What type of training would I need? Will police academy do or something else? What are the steps to be more than just a local police officer? Any advice & help would be appreciated! I'm 22, got my conceal and carry, and a black belt in TKD (I know its no substitute, just listing). Thanks so much! Also, I'm fixing(if i pass) to finish my A.A in General Studies, basically a transfer degree. As I see it, I have a few options, a) get another associates from the same commu...

I also enjoy music and entertainment. I am 26 and having trouble coming up with some good options. There has to be something out there where I don't cringe at the thought of going to work.
