Guernsey: How long do you have to live in Guernsey to become a local?
If you have moved over from the mainland and are now living in Guernsey, how would it take for you to become a local suck as pick up the accent (or lose your accent that you had before) and start talking the way Guernsey people do like using phrases such as 'eh'.

Guernsey: If you could get one thing that was AFL related for christmas, what would it be?
It could be anything eg. - Guernsey - players badges - polo shirt - a footy - jacket - flag etc etc.. & if u like, say why it would mean alot to you. For me, id like another eagles guernsey. My Original one is all signed (click the link to see an image of it http://aflislove.deviantart.com/art/west-coast-eagles-guernsey-85725606 ) -- and I would like one that i could wear around without having to worry about runing the signitures on it.

Guernsey: This incident happened to me as a child can you help me reflect?
When I was 12 or 13 I was on a boys brigade camp to guernsey. At the time we were having tent inspection. We were asked to take off our tops for a photo. I suppose it was completely inocent as it was a hot day and there were other adults about but the thing that gets me is i was very over weight. This one officer Mr Kemp who always picked on me told me if I didn't take off my top for the photo our tent would loose points to which all the boys in my tent turned and said get your top off or else. So I had to take my top off to which everyone started slagging me taking the piss and laughing at me being over weight. He used to also make impressions of me in a cruel way. I later became anorexic about 3 years on. I am now 6 feet and weigh the same as I did 14 years ago when I was 13. I feel that it was almost criminal forcing a child to take his top off when clearly the child had major confidense issues. Anyway I am getting better i saw Mr Kemp today and know where hew lives. Is it justufued for me to ask him about the experiene? Sorry about the essay nature of this question want to ask him years on if he thinks that was right what he did if he is ashamed talk about how it damaged me

Guernsey: Book recommendation! Easy ten points?
Well, it is my birthday fast approaching and I need to tell my Mum a book that I would like. So I thought I would ask what book you would recommend, considering the following: *I do not enjoy Sci-Fi *I have already read Twilight!!! *My favourite books are: The Book Thief, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, The Bronze Horseman, Night, Pride and Prejudice, anything my Jane Austen, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, To Kill a Mockingbird, 1984, Tess of the D'Ubervilles, A Thousand Splendid Suns, The adventures of Huckleberry Finn. *So I guess the only trend I can see in those books is that I generally like books which were not published about this generation best. *I enjoy reading boos around WW2, that have historical information about the war but also some kind of fictional story (as is seen in The Book Thief, The Guernsey Literary..., Suite Francaise and The Bronze Horseman) *Also, I am sixteen, but I don't like teenage fiction books, generally, unless they are very very good and not revolving around the same old Girl at school meets boy at school and so on. So any suggestions? Thankkks

Guernsey: What's the coolest, most desirable item in today's Yankees auction?
Big auction of Yankee Stadium memorabilia and other baseball stuff today in NYC. List of many things: http://www.guernseys.com/auctions/stadium/index.html So what's the coolest thing, the one item you'd most like to own? (Get down to MSG and bid, quickly!) - Joe D's 1999 All-Century Team gold watch? - LeRoy Neiman oil painting of Reggie? - various Yankee Stadium original blueprints? - Babe Ruth signed paycheck? - bats, balls, autographs, pictures? - Jose Molina's last-homer-at-YS baseball? - Joe Namath portrait used in a YS ad? - Yankees World Series programs? - Del Webb's Yankees World Series rings? - Mickey's 1949 Plymouth convertible? - YS pitching rubber? - or the 1912 Red Sox World Series trophy? (Yes, this is in the auction. http://www.guernseys.com/auctions/redsoxtrophy/index.html ) This is not solicitation for this auction as I am not selling any of this, nor do I think anyone on YS Baseball is positioned to bid on anything. Just the stuff of which dreams are made. Me, I'd go with the trophy.

Guernsey: Is there any custom check if I'm travelling from Guernsey to England or to France?
I'm currently residing on Guernsey. I will be travelling both to London and to France around christmas and bring christmas gifts with me from Guernsey. Technically I suppose I have to pay VAT in England/France for these but are there any customs control to check this at all? (It's not alcohol but other goods)

Guernsey: Crufts-winning kennel owner covered up death of dog ~ did the punishment fit the crime?
A Crufts-winning kennel owner buried a millionaire surgeon's dog in a field after it was savaged to death by two bull terriers - and then pretended it had escaped. Jessica Valpied, 24, panicked when she found the bloodied remains of border collie Arte, who belonged to one of the world's top surgeons. Fearing the incident would ruin her business, she buried the carcass in a nearby field and phoned its owner to say Arte had escaped and run away. Valpied, of St Peter Port, Guernsey, then swore employees at her 24-7 Petcare company to secrecy and forced them to pretend to search for the dog by walking around the area calling Arte's name and whistling. Link to full article http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1077846/Crufts-winning-kennel-owner-covered-death-millionaire-surgeons-dog-savaged-bull-terriers.html Did the punishment fit the crime? In your opinion what should have happened to the owner of the kennel?
