Gloucester: experience or college degree?
my friend told me that he considered about not going to college because he didn't want to waste 4 years of his life and have a huge debt to pay off. He planned on using those 4 years for work experience instead. He argued that experience counts a lot more and that degrees aren't worth much.
I told him that though I do agree that experience counts a lot, he shouldn't discredit a degree so much. I told him that employers look at both as major points in a resume, and that he should a degree. He insisted that degrees won't be worth it. I said that he might have a lot of experience for the job, but without a degree it might lower his chances significantly of landing a high... 03 Dec 08, 01:12:48
Gloucester: How does an Engineer do their job?
I'm looking into engineering as a career option but still don't have a good idea of what engineers really do. The research that I have done has only given me a general understanding. For example, aerospace engineers design, build, and analyze systems and components of aircraft, helicopters, engines, satellites, rockets, and unmanned vehicles. I would like to know more about typical working conditions (in a lab, think-box, factory, production site?) or what tools/methods are used. Can anyone give me an example of a problem and how an engineer would go about solving it? I'm asking for examples, so it doesn't have to apply to all engineers. I'm interested in chemistr... 03 Dec 08, 01:12:42

Gloucester: My chances for UCSC... What Do u Think?
I'm trying to get into UCSC. I have a 3.66 gpa, a 1710 sat, and with my essay, do you think i have a good chance? thanks!
The last twelve years of my life would be impossible to quantify in a stat sheet and a thousand words or less. It is best described as a concoction of stories and experiences that resemble the characteristics inherent to any great novel. All the fundamentals of classic literature are there: excitement, curiosity, gain, loss, accomplishment, misfortune, victory and defeat. The roots of my development are embedded in my bloodlines, as well as my environment. I am the youngest of four brothers, raised in a setting where my parents encouraged personal individualism. Gloucester: What is it like to be in Infantry when not deployed?
Posted Tue 02 December 2008 12:44 AM
What I wanted to know is what its like be in infantry rolls (11 series, 13 series, 19, or even a combat engineer) when not deployed? I have a family and my wife is worried I will always be away from home and I will never watch my daughter grow up. I wouldnt like that either, but when not deployed are you away from home alot more then other MOS's. I know you have feild training but when people refer to field exercises does that mean being away from home, or is it mostly just during the day and home at night with the exception of away training here and there.
If someone could give me an example of how many time a year (not including deployment) t... 02 Dec 08, 11:12:53
Gloucester: I thought it was funny, what about u?
A lawyer married a woman who had previously divorced ten husbands.
On their wedding night, she told her new husband, Please be gentle, I'm still a virgin.
What? said the puzzled groom.
How can that be if you've been married ten times?
Well, Husband #1 was a sales representative, he kept telling me how great it was going to be.
Husband #2 was in software services, he was never real
Husband #3 was from field services, he said everything checked out diagnostically but he just couldn't get the system up.
Husband #4 was in telemarketing, even though he knew he had the order, he didn't know when he would be ab... 02 Dec 08, 10:12:59
