Glastonbury: My girlfriend is claiming Job Seekers Allowance, how much is deducted if she gets a part-time job?
She receives £60.50 which we are grateful for but we were under the impression she could get a few hours a week without it affecting the payments.
She got a 2 week (20 hours over 2 weeks) job cleaning at £5.55 ph and told JSA, they now say they are to reduce her payments.
They could not say by how much. Can anyone give some rough estimates on how much they keep back. She will earn aprox £50.00 a week extra.
Thanks... 02 Dec 08, 01:12:12
Glastonbury: I've just quit college?
Hi
I decided today to quit college as I really wasn't enjoying it, I found myself skipping a lot of lessons and lying to my parents saying they were cancelled etc. The reason I quit was because I just didn't enjoy the classes to be honest, they weren't the worst classes but I've never liked school so studying A levels probably didn't help.
I've told my parents that I have quit and they aren't too pleased. Whats the best thing for me to do now? As jobs are few and far between these days what with the recession and stuff going on, and I'm not old enough to get job seekers allowance yet (I will be next year). Basically all it seems I can do now is s... 02 Dec 08, 12:12:18

Glastonbury: Unfair Debt Question...?
I have a loan which I pay £86 i month, and I still owe £1750. The loan was only for £2200 and i've had it for over nearly 2 years! I was made redundant in august and I started at university in september. I contact my loan company as I have payment protection and they told me that the only way I could claim for my protection is if I was on job seekers allowance. I am 20 years old and trying to better myself, and I am told to sign on if i want to claim my payment protection! This to me sounds unfair and rediculous, I am now 3 payments behind and they are threatening me with a CCJ! have I got a good argument... and I do understand that debt has to be paid back!... 27 Nov 08, 07:11:58
