Why are they using this gimmick? or is it one?
Here is the situation, about a month ago I applied at a staffing agency for a position as a machinist apprentice. I was actually emailed by the agency to see if I still was looking for work. I said yes, went for a 1st interview and everything went well so they said. Later after no further emails I emailed them, they said they were having trouble getting a hold of my reference so I contacted him and he said yes they had got a hold of him. France: How do engineering placement agencies work? Why are most engineering jobs through placement agencies?
Most advertised jobs (in Ontario, Canada) seem to be through placement agencies. Are they real, permanent full time jobs? How do these agencies work? Why don't companies hire engineers directly? Are these placement agencies legitimate?
Are the best/better engineering jobs directly through the companies, and not advertised? Are do most engineers work through a placement agency?...

France: Can you make me feel better? I just lost my job.?
I just graduated with a Finance degree in May. (Great choice, huh?) Since then, I have been let go twice. The first time was for budget reasons. And then I got a job at a temp service. I thought they liked me, and they even offered me a full time position in 2 months when my contract with the temp agency was up. I guess I did something wrong though because the temp agency just called and said that they let me go.
Any words of encouragement and prayers are appreciated.

I was hired at a temp agency (In there office). I was told the job would last a few months, I would get a months notice and they would do everything possible to find me another job. Everything was going great, i never missed any work, did a great job and did everything I was asked to do, plus. The owners wife decided to come back to work there and we got along great. Even went out to lunch together several times. They said when things picked up in the other office they would get me to help over there in addition to keeping me on as much as possible at thier office. They never called me back! I just applied for a federal job that I would really like to have. However, I have several other job prospects lined up and would probably have to take the job if the government drags their feet. France: Moving to a new state.....job first.?
I've been living in Oregon for the past 2 years and want to move back to the east coast, where I grew up, to be closer to my family.
I have a college degree and 5 years work experience, I work in the Autocad drafting field. As I look for jobs on sites, 80% of the jobs I qualify for are posted by temp or employment agencies. Pretty big ones that have offices all over the united states. Is this an advantage of disadvantage when trying to find a job across the united states? If I use the temp agency....
