Edinburgh: Do I need a C in maths?
I got a D in my maths gcse. i want to be a film critic but it has been spread about that you need a C in maths. Personally i dont believe this as some collages will accpet you depending on other results. all my other results are excelent A*'s A's B's and C's so it really anoys me when people say you need a C in maths aswell. surely i would not need to prove my maths skills for a job like film criticism and surely its only some collages that require maths. I can always resit it but i dont want to if it isnt nessaccary.... 04 Sep 08, 10:09:23
Edinburgh: WHY Does FEMINISM INSIST On HAVING Women In UNSUITED Roles?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=A_SGXx3pLzs
One of the greatest scenes in science fiction history (filmed in 1984). As a boy I remember watching this over and over and over again.
THINGS TO NOTE:
*At 1:06 note the musical score and combination of panning on Kirk's face.
*At 2:38 note the Excelsior captain's demeanor. Very well acted.
*At 3:37 watch the assured coolness with which Scotty acknowledges a job well done (this part was one my brother and I would act out a million times LOL!). Also note the power of Excelsior's engines we hear in the shot immediately following this.
*Finally, from 4:27 to 4:39 note how Kirk heeds Chekov's warning that their commande... 04 Sep 08, 08:09:53
Edinburgh: heath ledger and why he was such a brilliant actor?
A mini bio for use to read first when a young, hunky 20 year old heart-throb Heath Ledger first came to the attention of the public in 1999, it was all too easy to tag him as a pretty boy and an actor of not much depth. He has spent the past five years trying desperately to sway this image away, but this has indeed been a double-edged sword. But that comes much later in his story. Heath Ledger was born on the fourth of April 1979, in Perth, Western Australia. As the story goes, in junior high it was compulsory to do one of two electives, either cooking or drama, and as Heath could honestly not see himself in a cooking class, he tried his hand at drama. Heath was talented, there w... 04 Sep 08, 07:09:01
Edinburgh: How much should I charge for tutoring?
There are no jobs where I live and I had an idea to tutor people in film-making and appreciation. There are a lot of kids coming out of high school here who have a keen interest in film and television production. There are about thirty jobs in this entire city that have anything to do with that and they are all taken. The colleges (community and a satellite of a university) offer degrees but they don't really teach much per the lack of good teachers. So these kids are graduating but they don't really know much about the subject they have a degree in. I am graduating with my Bachelor's degree in Communication in the spring. I have an obsession with TV and film-making and theory... 04 Sep 08, 04:09:02
Edinburgh: Help with course choice!!?
I'm currently choosing whay A2 subjects I want to take. I have already taken AS Biology, Chemistry, English Literature and Maths because I originally wanted to become a vet.
I had a work placement at a vets and I found that I faint at the sight of blood, so that was the end of that career choice.
I am now thinking about scrapping the sciences and picking up both AS and A2 film because I have always had this dream of becoming a film director or producer.
Everyone I tell about this thinks that it's a bad idea and I am completly unsure abut the whole thing. Do I stick with the sciences and get a job I wont enjoy but pays me alot or do I go with a job I enjoy but I proba... 04 Sep 08, 04:09:29
Edinburgh: Lack of motivation solutions?
Hey there kind souls who would donate their time. I have some whining to do that I'm afraid I must inflict upon you but please persist because I genuinely need help and will take it anywhere I can get it.
For what through much soul searching I have concluded to be several years if not my life I have been a person with little confidence and very little motivation. It has been a problem for me for a long time but not enough so that it ruined my life or was hugely damaging until about the past 3-4 years in which I've been spiralling into the depths of a depression with a vice-like hold and paralysing effect.
I suppose the problem became particularly visible and debilitating arou... 04 Sep 08, 02:09:53
