Dover: Divorce, separation agreement, claiming child as dependent?
My soon to be ex husband and I have 50/50 custody. My child lives with me 100% of the time and sees him when he is available. My husband is a marine and is stationed in SC I live in VA. My husband had some separation agreement wrote by a legal assistant on base and brought it to me and said for me to sign. I looked over it and thought it all seemed ok, i didnt really understand everything but never thought it would hurt me it wasnt final. In the papers it is says he pays me 700 a month in child support (he makes a lot) til she reaches 18 or graduates. Then he was sneaky and put in there he gets to claim her on his taxes EVERY year! I didnt know it meant that with the wording. I did sign it. ...

Dover: Legal Problem...please help!?
I am awaiting trial on an embezzlement case in a state that I moved to 8 months ago. I pleaded not guilty at the arraignment trial. They haven't set my trial date yet and its been almost a month. I've never been arrested before and I don't have a criminal record. I got caught up trying to help some people with the company I was working for. I don't have family and friends here and I would like to move back to my home state. I'm scared but I may not have a choice. I may lose my job and apartment if they find out that I am awaiting trial for embezzlement. But I haven't had good luck here in this southern state since I moved here and I really would like to go home....

Dover: Denver Public School 2 year back pay policy?
My girlfriend recently found out that she has been underpaid by DPS for the past 3 years. Today she was told that she will only receive 2 years of retro pay because that's their policy . Is that legal? They screw up and she's out thousands of dollars because of it? She tutors 3 nights a week to make ends meet. Had she been paid what she should have been she wouldn't have even had to take on the tutoring job and instead would have spent the time with her children. Can the teachers union help? TIA
Apparently, the district was being audited and that's when they discovered their mistake....

Dover: Kids' dad left the state owing child support...?
My and I went to court in October because he was not paying child support. (His excuse was he was in court ordered work release rehab for drugs and he could not hold down a job.) Anyhow, because of his legal problems, he could not see the kids for over a year (child endangering). In an effort to intimidate me into dropping the support case, he asked the court to grant him visitation with the kids. He was given supervised visits and in 3 months time, he only scheduled 3 visits. Thats how interested he was. Anyhow, we were due to go back to court in Feb. Dover: I need legal advise BADLY on Custody!!!?
My husband is in the us military(Army) we are stationed in Cali at Fort Irwin.He's been in since 2005, he doesn't get out until August of 2012...He has a daughter in Nevada who now at the time lives with her grandfather. He doesn't get to see her much. He tried for joint custody 3 1/2 years ago after the baby mama told him at first that the kid wasn't his and then came after him 2 weeks before getting shipped to Iraq that is was his and wanted child support. He pays that monthly and even a hundred bucks more. They went through attorneys to get that all sorted out. NONE of this every went to court. It's been a few years now,he gets to see her when his mother gets her ...

Dover: How legal is it for a job to consider someone as quitting?
When I worked in a major bookstore there was a lady who failed to show up for work twice. The boss mentioned that she was considered to have quit.
This makes me wonder how legal it is for someone to say you quit when you had no part of that decision. I thought we had a term for a boss deciding you won't work for him anymore, fired. In many cases it wouldn't matter but when it comes to unemployment it becomes an issue whether you quit or were fired....

Dover: I was assaulted at my job and took some time off due to continued harassment, do i have the legal right to?
to return to my same position at the same pay prior to the assault? The perpetrator is no longer allowed on the premises.
My employer did accept responsibility and took care of me financially for the first few months during the investigation and I then received workers comp, I have returned to work and I am wondering if I am legally entitled to my job/pay prior to the assault.
