Dover: Would my CV Profile and Covering Letter Impress Employers?
Hi there, this is what i send to employers via email. Personally, i have checked out the competition and i think, especially my covering letter stands out really well, for it's length and honesty. I would say i get good responces, but i often wonder from the ones that don't reply back, whether they don't think i promote myself well enough, or the the lack of job experience i have. You see, i was in College for 2 years full time, but didn;t bother getting a job, which was a mistake. So i ended up failing to get into the next level up at College and i'm now been searching for min. wage bar/restaurant/hotel jobs for over 6 months. Here is my covering letter and CV Profile, s... 09 Jan 09, 01:01:12

Dover: How do I apply a Perl command only to a specific line?
I need to do some in-place editing, and sed just isn't getting the job done, so I must turn to Perl. I will be working with very large files, so I cannot monkey about with making copies of them or anything.
My script looks like this:
perl -p -i -e 's|[search expression]|[replacement value]|g' [filename]
The file name is an argument for my script, which will be run in the C-Shell. (It has to be; this will go in the middle of a larger tool that does other C-Shell things.)
I know -p makes the perl command apply to every line, but I want it to work on just lines with a particular line number. How do I do that?
Come to think of it, it'd be great if I could use t... 09 Jan 09, 12:01:11
Dover: Is it my responsibility to clean the driveway anytime?
So basically, we didn't hire the snowcleaners this season and I assured my parents I'll clean the driveway. And I've done that so far like 10 times already this season. But today morning the driveway had snow and I went out to do work at around 10:30 a.m. My mom got upset and is like I thought you'll do the driveway. And I replied like: I've been cleaning the whole time, but can't clean it 24 hrs a day.
And now the snow is like settled on the driveway and really won't be able to take it out. It was a weekday today and she knows I don't work full-time but went out to search for a job. I didn't want to look like a bum sitt... 09 Jan 09, 12:01:02
Dover: Do the banks always win?
With so many people through no fault of their own losing their jobs, they are going to miss one or two payments while their funds get sorted, this in turn will get them blacklisted on credit searches for when times turn good. So in the future not only will the banks have been helped by them, they will repay them with higher percentage rates to pay. So the banks always seem to win.... 09 Jan 09, 12:01:58

Dover: Math major with a low gpa, can I still get a job?
My gpa is 2.6..I'll be graduating this spring and I don't know how the whole searching for a job is going to turn out...I'm a really bright person but I tend to suffer from depression which I've now gotten under control, but not before it ruined my grades. I'm not using it as an excuse since I wouldn't bring this up at an interview anyway....Just wondering do I still have a shot,... 08 Jan 09, 11:01:13
