Dover: How to pay for a school trip?
Hi everyone,
Just to fill you in I am on the debate team involved in public forum debate. Today my debate coach asked my partner and I to go to the Harvard National Debate Tournament to compete in JV Public Forum debate. However I'm finding issue with the fact that this trip is very expensive and I need help on ideas of how to pay for it. I can't exactly get the money from my parents because we aren't in a very good position with money right now, currently neither of my parents have jobs (but my Dad is getting severance pay from his engineering job). I know that it seems very selfish to be worrying about going when we are in this situation, but I see this as a very importan... 08 Jan 09, 11:01:50

Dover: can someone please shed some light on this issue ?
can someone please shed some light on this issue im having, the story is pretty long. im a 22yr female seeing a 34yr male. We speak pretty much everyday over the phone or text; however, we do not see each other as often because he has 2 jobs (night shift and weekends). I am a student and work part time. We have been hanging out with each other for a little over a year. I have never been married or have any kids. He has never been married or has any kids either. We have been intimate as well for a while already. Anyways to cut the long story short. I really do like him and care a lot for him, and he says that I would never understand how much he really cares for me and that he never expected ... 08 Jan 09, 09:01:17
Dover: What career is best to choose, I have a dilemma ?
I have a clerical job know that has no opportunity for growth, the wages are very low, and there is ongoing office drama.
I have a school age child and I am searching for an occupation that will allow flexibility with my child. I do not work weekends, nights or holidays.
I think I do not have alot of options for flexible careers at this point without going back to college. I have a degreee in communications and I maxed out students loans while trying to obtain a teacher certification.
Know I am default on the loans.
I would like to apply for a federal job (fbi), but I am default on my loans. I have considered becoming a police. The job pays well and I am interested in that type of wo... 08 Jan 09, 09:01:01
Dover: College girl moving to NYC, does anyone know what the job opportunities are like (part-time) ?
am a 19-year old college student, I start school in Feb & will be going to school in NYC.
I used to live there & I know that new places are always opening, plus there are lots of tourists to help w/ the economy even though it still sucks right now.
Do you know if it's really hard to find a job (part-time) in the city, at like a restaurant or a store like Macy's ?
I live in a small town currently, we get no tourists and no new places opening. I haven't had any luck finding a job for 4 months and I have a decent resume. So I wonder if I'll have better luck in a bigger city with more positions? Thanks!... 08 Jan 09, 09:01:19

Dover: Questions for EMT/Paramedics, I need advice?
I am a certified EMT-B and I have an opportunity for employment with the major hospital in my area, I know this will be a great opportunity for me, but I'm kind of nervous because I don't know if I can handle some of the gross stuff, I'm probably just over thinking it, I was fine with it in EMT training, but how do you handle it? Does it just become second nature with experience? How do you handle the pressure of the job?
I rode along in an ambulance and did the ER thing, but what I'm saying is I don't know if i could handle it every day, what I mean is, do you get used to the pressure and things like that of the job with experience?... 08 Jan 09, 09:01:59
Dover: Does anyone feel like they are being held back from advancing because of their type of job?
I have been doing reception work for 20 (yes - twenty years!) I have worked for a variety of types of business (law; manufacturing; education) in all of the positions I have held I have done WAY more than just reception. In fact my resume is absolutely bursting with my accomplishments, skills and abilities. I do not understand why I cannot seem to ever get advanced into another position within any company. I am a loyal employee, I work hard, pull my weight and then some, I am a team player, work well on my own, I recently got my bachelors degree (while still working a 40 hr wk.) I am smart, funny with a dry wit, I wear my glasses to detract from my attractiveness (Just so you know - I te... 08 Jan 09, 09:01:06

My husband and I stay in a small town.We don't have to pay rent because we moved into one of his parents house. There are no decent jobs, and we are barely even making it.He is ready for a family, but I can't see myself bring a child into a life like this.I have been compromising with him for 5yrs now and I'm tired.I ask him if he wanted to move for better job opportunities. There is only one plant here and it pay less than 7.00hr.This is a retirement town and nothing more.I love my husband with all my heart, but I don't want to just settle for anything.Sure we don't have to pay rent, but sometimes you have to work hard for what you want out of life.I don't want to l... 08 Jan 09, 08:01:29
