Dover: If I withdraw my Roth IRA, what should I do at tax time?
I opened a Roth IRA at my previous job and contributed $2200 to it. I moved it to my bank in January of 08. I now want to withdraw it. I received a notice that the CD it's in has matured and I needed to notify them whether to roll it over or not by next week. So I told them I wanted to withdraw it and they said I can't do anything until I consult a financial adviser.
I'm nowhere near 59 1/2 (thirty, actually) and I won't be using the money for any of the exceptions (like self-purchased health insurance, first time home ownership, etc.). So my question is this, I know I'll take a 10% hit when I withdraw the money, but on top of that, how much should I set as... 07 Jan 09, 03:01:49
