Dover: how do you stay positive when your life sucks?
my life sucks.really it does.i don't have many friends i can confide in so i'll just say it here because i need to get it out of my chest.
all started in may last year.
i live with my parents and was with my bf as well.me and my bf had part time work and study at the same time.gave my parents £300-£400 pounds per month for rent ,food and all the stuff.
my mom lost her job that month so she applied for other jobs.
she was offered a top job in london but it was only going to start in june.she was never on benefits.
she applied at different agency's for temporary work until june but nothing was ever found.we struggled with money and while having my bf nagging at me i gave ... 09 Jan 09, 02:01:01
Dover: Culinary school help?
i am a junior in high school and am seriously considering going into the culinary arts because i actually enjoy cooking and when i tried thinking of myself doing any other job it was hard to imagine because i get bored with things EXTREMLY easily. So that's cool and all but when i told my family they were going on about how difficult getting a job is and things of that sort. So i was wondering how hard it was to actually get a job as a chef or pastry chef (not sure yet.....still thinking) . I currently live in waco tx but was thinking of going to the school in houston and was wondering how hard it would be to get a job there. All answers are appreciated as well as any advice. Thanks in ... 09 Jan 09, 02:01:52

Dover: Do you know desserts I can make ahead or freeze from saturday to thursday?
Um i need to know for my job i just have 2 hours to cook dessert, for like 200 people and so i either need to prep it and be able to make it in two hours or make it complety in two hours. I am the pastry chef at my church and I can do alot but I am used to doing fresh not freeze so if anyone has any ideas of something that comes well at the end of a meal.... 08 Jan 09, 04:01:37
Dover: Writer Needs a Day Job?
...And it sucks, I think I'm having a mid life crisis. I'm a writer...a good writer...I really believe that. Lord knows I am so meticulous about it I've been working on a book for about 10 years now, and it's almost finished! I've even got the query letter done and ready to send to agents.
I'm also a single mom of one little boy. I know the career i want is to be a writer but even if my book is successful...after researching it online...I know writer money is slow money and it dribbles to you for about the first 3 years.
So, I need another career. It's kind of exciting to have to choose another career but I want something that makes pretty good money ... 07 Jan 09, 06:01:00
Dover: Why do colleges lie so much to students by saying a degree will lead to success?
I used to not pay much attention to the lawyer and medical TV shows when I was a kid. I liked watching them sometimes, but I always knew I wanted to be a doctor. Well, things didn't work out that way. It seems like who you know is more important than what you know. I'm currently trying to play catch up and get a good-paying job that will pay a living.
I cannot believe how ignorantly some TV shows are written. Damages, a TV show on FX, is complete propaganda. This woman, Ellen, is the daughter of two blue-collar parents who gets multiple six-figure jobs out of law school. She takes a job with Patty Hewes and immediately takes the helm of a multi-million dollar class action suit w... 07 Jan 09, 05:01:38
Dover: Boyfriend Appreciation (gift Ideas) ?
Alright, my boyfriend is a chef and recently got a job. I want to show him that I appreciate his hard work. He really loves hip hop, food, and video games.
He was talking about needing a better shaving tool, and I saw a kit he might like, but I don't want it to seem like I am trying to insinuate anything by giving it to him.
Might you have any suggestions for gift Ideas?
Not sex. He doesn't get that until I am ready.... 07 Jan 09, 04:01:13

Okay so I job shadowed a chef/restaurant owner for a school project.
I wrote an essay, made charts and stuff.
Now in additon to doing an oral cooking demonstration I neeed a 3-D display/exhibt.
Open to any ideas at all. How can I present the info in a cool, original, cooking related way?

Dover: Relocating.. any suggestions on location?
We are currently in a dead end town and need to relocate. I am curious if anyone lives in a town that they feel like they would recommend to someone consideration relocation there. It is very important that it has good, successful school districts as I have 4 young sons. I am currently a full time university student but can take my classes online so that wont matter too much. My other half is a certified welder and a certified chef so it is very important that there be opportunity in those areas and that the job market has some kind of potential. The unemployment rate where we currently are is horribly high and drugs and gangs have become a huge problem here over the last several years. I am... 07 Jan 09, 01:01:55
