Dover: Im scared, worried, stressed?
Ok, where to begin?
I'll just tell you the facts. (try not to fall asleep :P)
Im 15 (nearly 16) and feel like im lost in life, and dont know what to do next. By that i mean, socially with friends, family, and a career choice too.
Im really unconfident but yet i have friends but i moan and constantly put myself down.
I always see this girl also in my school whos always alone and has no friends (think shes about 18 though) and i want to shut myself up because i realise how lucky i am. But still feel depressed.
I met this guy also and hes much older and basically hes getting on with his life, he has a band and stuff. We got in touch last year and had so much in common and now ... 08 Jan 09, 11:01:09
Dover: Would someone please help me proofread my appeal letter?
I am appealing my dismissal from the University of Wisconsin Stout. If I could get a few tips or advice or feedback on any part of this letter, it would be greatly appreciated!
I would like to start out by saying that I take my academic career at UW Stout very seriously. I take full responsibility for the grades that I received this past semester; however, I have made the decision to appeal my dismissal from the University for a few reasons, which I believe were unusual and beyond my control. I was born with a disability called Spina Bifida. Although my case is rather mild, and I can function without many limitations, it has caused me to struggle with math courses that I have taken in... 08 Jan 09, 11:01:14
Dover: Introduction to computer programming?
Hi, I'm pretty good wit computers and definitely above average. I've been pondering a possible career path that has to do with technology and maybe computer programming. I'd like to see if I like it and I don't really know where to start. I have a MacBook and am primarily an apple user now but I have had a lot of experience with windows as well (spent very long time fixing it on numerous occasions).
Does anyone know where to start other than any formal classes?
What should I try first? How?
I was thinking probably HTML but my experience in actual programming is very limited.
Any advice is appreciated. even just useful command lines for a mac.... 08 Jan 09, 11:01:37
Dover: Im a highschooler who wants to persure a career in 2D animation. I need advice from a 2D Animator!?
First, Id like to inform you a little about myself.
I've been drawing for a while now and I think I've developed some pretty good drawing skills considering Im only 16. My line of work is just sketches and more sketches of people and anatomical figures. I get creative with my drawings and a lot of my 'finished work' goes along the lines of illustration that I do on the computer with my tablet.
Im awful at traditional painting, but Im quite confident in my drawing skills when it comes to drawing from life. Especially the human figure! But I work with the human figure blind more often than I do from life. I look to Jack Hamm's 'Drawing The Head and Figure... 08 Jan 09, 11:01:10
Dover: Where am i heading and how do i cope?
I finished my GCSE’s a little while ago and did pretty well, no thanks to my school. All the work I did was me self teaching myself because the teachers weren’t teaching us anything. The school also limited me to how many GCSE’s I could take. However, like I said I did pretty well none the less. This year I’m taking my AS courses (first half of my A levels) and once again the school isn’t teaching me much to help.
I picked Geography, history, maths and physics AS/A2 courses because when I picked my course I was planning on becoming a commercial pilot. However, since then I’ve changed my mind a few time and now I don’t know what I want to do as a career. I don’t enjoy my s... 08 Jan 09, 11:01:06
Dover: Which A levels would help me get into Drama School?
I want to go drama school or study drama at university when I am 18 as I want to be an actress or have a career of some form within the performing arts. I am currently tutored in the 3 disciplines of the performing arts and my tutors have advised me to go for a career as an actress as they think I could work in the industry. They also advised me to gain A level qualifications before I apply to drama school which is what I want to do so that I have an education to fall back on. I am trying to choose my A level subjects and need some advice on which subjects would help me to get into drama school. I was considering Dance, Drama, Psychology and English Literature but I would love to have your o... 08 Jan 09, 10:01:44
Dover: Career Advice - Post Law Degree in UK?
I am studying for a law degree in the UK. Currently in my final year and I just don't know what to do after. I am not keen on the LPC and It would be too late to apply now anyway. I have looked into licensed conveyancing but I was shocked at the salary of £15,000 and average of £30,000 when fully qualified. Although it did state up to £50,000 if you get a 'full' license and practice self-employed or for your own company.
I am interested in land law, landlord & tenant. I also thought about agency law (such as football agent) and aviation law (never studied at all) but have no idea how to get into this.
Im looking online every day for possible careers. Basically I a... 08 Jan 09, 10:01:15
