News Articles on Au Pair Job in Dover
Dover: Would you drop everything and move to Europe if you had the opportunity?
So, I hate my current job. So much. I am a recent college grad that went into a training program for a large hotel company. I was promised placement in 6 months and a 10% raise. None of that has happened. Although, I was offered a permanent position, it was pulled 5 days before I was supposed to relocate. If this isn't enough, I have been put into a placeholder position that just sucks. My director of HR isn't the most ethical guy in the world either and there have been several situations that have made me uncomfortable. I have no plans to stay with this company. And while looking into other options, I discovered becoming an au pair in Europe (specifically Holland)... 06 Jan 09, 04:01:54

Dover: Can I break my contract?
I am from Canada and am currently working as an au pair (live-in nanny) in France. I am extremely unhappy here and would like to quit my job and return home. However, in order to come here I had to sign a contract. I've heard that contracts for work abroad really don't mean much. So can I break the contract and go home? Or can my employers hold me to the contract and make me stay here?
Thanks Rehman for your concern. Just to ease your mind, I don't plan on ditching them. Like a good Canadian I plan to explain that they have been nothing but kind to me and I appreciate all that they've done, but I am simply too homesick to stay here for several more month... 28 Dec 08, 11:12:26

Dover: Au Pairs? What are the limitations?
I am a single father and have recently been offered a well paying job in the Northern Virgina area. With the high pay comes plenty of travel. I dont know the exact amount of travel, but sometimes for two weeks or so.
Anyway, I was researching nannies and au pairs online. My son is 12 years old, and doesnt have any special needs, I just cant leave him alone while I travel. I read on a website that au-pairs can only work so many hours per week and have other limitations. I really just need her to cook for him while I am gone, and make sure he does his homework, and goes to school. If I am gone for 24 hours per day, is that considered that she is working 24 hours per day?
Am I better off ... 19 Dec 08, 03:12:27
