Dorchester: Microsoft Excel Training?
OK. Here's the deal. I have an Excel test for a job promotion I want. Everything is a green light and the job is mine, but I have to pass some computer tests. One is Excel 2007 and the other is Word 2007. Anyone know of any tutorials or free training on the web that is helpful? I've tried the Microsoft site, but their training isn't very thorough or understandable. I think they've been working with bionary number so long, their brains has slowed down....

Dorchester: I need software suggestion for a small business?
We use Quickbooks, love it, great. However, I need some software that allows me to keep logs of progress, in sentences, in accordance with a specific customer number. I am going to number all my customers, and when we do work for them, I need to have a master record where I document all the work we did and date it. It needs to be a current update of all open jobs and store all old jobs. So basically, need to track/log progress according to unique customer numbers. (we own a computer repair shop). Any suggestions?...

Dorchester: Does anybody know about Bard college? What are my chances?
I might just apply for the heck of it...but I know they only accept about 400 or 500 students. I'm 16, currently a sophomore. I am in all of the most advanced classes offered at my school, straight a's except 1 or two b's since 7th grade in just stupid typing classes or something like that. I have takin self taught classes on the computer and even over the summer. I am the only sophomore at my school taking honors pre-calculus, I'm with all juniors. I am involved in about 6 clubs, I have done volunteer work, I am in the process of getting a job and I am willing to work very very hard. I know its a long shot....and I can guarantee there are smarter and more motivated kids ...

Dorchester: Please help me answer this question about technology and computer ethics?
You have applied for a job as a reporter for a newspaper. Your journalistic skills are excellent; however you are not a touch typist, and your typing speed is very slow. For this reason, the managing editor is reluctant to hire you at the position's salary. How would you react to the situation? Is the editor right? Should keyboarding skills be a requirement for a job? Would you be willing to learn how to type or accept the job at a lower salary?...

If not, what the situation is, is that I am have been a DJ all year and that is my only job. I do it for a nightclub as an independent contractor. I have some new questions now though.
