Dorchester: What do I have to do to qualify to be an Economist with the Bureau of Labor Statistics?
I'm hoping someone will have some experience they can share with me. I will graduate with a degree in Economics in a year from now. I've been looking at job listings for Economists and it seems like the BLS is the biggest hirer or Economists. I've been checking out the requirements listed on the usajobs.gov website, but I read somewhere that a major qualifier for the jobs was passing an economics test and I read that they had a practice test out there. I can't find any other reference to this test or the practice test. Does anyone know if this really exists and if so, what kind of stuff is on the test. ex. would it deal more with labor markets, or would I have to ...

Dorchester: Should I not tell them I have a Bachelor's degree?
I graduated last year with a BA in English Literature and am still trying to find a full time job. Jobs that require less than a Bachelor's degree don't want to hire someone who has one because they think you'll leave when you find something better. Those who do require the degree want years of experience along with it. I am applying for a job as an administrative assistant at a law school. It's mostly clerical work, helping students register, faxing, answering phones, greeting visitors, etc. I worked at a college doing this kind of work for 6 years. This position only requires a high school diploma. Should I not mention that I have a degree in my resume? I actually w...

Dorchester: I think I have social anxiety disorder?
I think ive had it since freshmen year. I only feel comfortable talking to three people and I usually only talk to them at school because outside of school I prefer to be by myself in my room. I HATE going shopping because there are WAY too many people. I hate giving presentations and when I have to give one i start shaking really badly, and I start to sweat and I keep on getting afraid I'm going to mess up (I have no idea how I'm going to present my senior project and without it I can't graduate) and I can't even get a job because I get nervous during interviews and they want to employ outgoing people. What should I do?I'm afraid to tell my dad to get help because...

Dorchester: Insurance options for college student?
I'm going to turn 23 next year and be kicked off of my parent's insurance policy. I will be graduating in May. My school offers a really bad insurance policy, however, I would like a little more coverage. Hopefully, I'll be able to obtain full time employment in June or July (I'm a nursing major so pretty much guaranteed a job). Any suggestions for what to do in the meantime? Thanks!...

Dorchester: what to do about this?
I am currently a 25yr old black female graduate student. i substitute teach and take my classes at night. I am at this large urban high school every day. i like to do my job well and go home peacefully. i am friendly to the staff but not too friendly. lately the administrators have been getting a tad too close for my comfort. They are very nice to me and i am nice as well. the one administrator is to the point that he was tapping on my shoulder talking about he was looking for me to find out how my thanksgiving break went. the other day, i was in a math lab and no students showed up. He saw me there alone, came in the room stood very close to me and started staring at my chest. i did not fee...

Dorchester: Would joining the Marine Corps as an officer help me with my chances of becoming a high school history teacher?
I know that's kind of a random question. But there are two things that I ( in my 17 years ) love in life. And that is history, and the military. I'm definitely going to college to Rutgers, and majoring in history education. My parents are paying for it. If I go to college, get my bachelors in History and graduate, than join the Marine Corps as an officer for 4 years, when I return to civilian life would that leadership experience help me land a job? And would my service help or detriment my chances of getting a good pension for teaching? I know this is a lot to ask, any help is appreciated....

Dorchester: How Do I Find out where I graduated from?
Ok this may sound really silly, but I have no idea what high school I graduated from. I dropped out in my senior for health reasons and went through a correspondence school to get my diploma. Now I am going to be getting a new job, that wants the diploma and I don't have it. I called my mom to see if she has it, but she isn't sure either. This was over 10 years ago that I graduated and I don't even know if the school still exists! Does anyone know how I can find out what the name of this correspondence school was? I hope someone can help! Thanks!...
