Dorchester: What do I do when I'm to scared to ask some one out?
I'm a junior in high school, and there's a girl (a senior) who I'd really like to ask out. But for one thing I'm way to scared. And between school, my school theater, and my job I don't think I'd really be able to give her the attention she deserves. And since she'll be off to college in a few months and I'm wondering if it's worth it. I think I'm over thinking this. Also I think she's noticed that I have a crush on her, but she could just be being nice. How can i tell?...

Dorchester: What's a good way to tell this guy where to go? LOL?
Long story short, college buddy comes outta nowhere since they heard that I got a cool job (by their standards) anyway, now this guy is usually unemployed, brags about using women etc. Now, all of a sudden I am getting all these IMs (EVERY SINGLE DAY) from this guy with all these fake compliments (now all of a sudden I'm a hottie) and asking me to come up with a business plan for us....this guy is a total bum and is annoying the heck outta me. How can I tell this guy to back off or should I just ignore all the messages? This guy is really a pain....

Dorchester: Is going 2 years CC and transferring to a UC better than going four years at a CSU?
I'm currently a senior in high school and I'm thinking of going to a CC for 2 years and transferring to UC Irvine or UC Berkley. But my question is, is it better to just go to a four year college straight like Cal Poly SLO (assuming I get in, pretty sure I will), or going 2 years to CC and transferring to a UC? Does being a transfer hurt my chances of getting a good job? I'm thinking of being an engineer, civil or aerospace. However I'm not completely sure what i want my major to be, so I want to go to a college where there is more options for majors plus UC's are better. Also there is a Honors Program at my CC where we are guaranteed into a UC by contract as ...

Dorchester: OB/GYN and Neonatal Surgeon?
Still in high school. I was wondering if an average student who maintains an A- and B+ average could become a Neonatal Surgeon, OB/GYN or a Prenatal Surgeon. I know I am not an outstanding student grade wise but I am very involved extra curricular activities such as clubs and volunteering. (I don't know if that makes a difference) My strongest subject is Science and English. I love Bio (haven't take chemistry yet) I will be taking AP Bio when I am a senior. The only thing is math isn't my strongest subject. On average I have anywhere from an 80 to 85, but I did terrible my freshman year...I think I had an average in the 70's but I received and 85% on my state exams. Do ...

Dorchester: what has been the best year of your life so far?
For me, I think it was 2003, cause I had my 1st full time job, its was a great hot summer, I acquired a boyfriend I liked a lot (and we lasted for a couple of yrs), I was 18 and I was just appreciating the right to be served in a pub legally and exploring so many new things. It was also the year I finished college and got my A-Levels and it was such an exciting time full of hope and discovery. What was your best year so far? do you ever get misty-eyed when u think of the memories, and why?...

Dorchester: Should I not tell them I have a Bachelor's degree?
I graduated last year with a BA in English Literature and am still trying to find a full time job. Jobs that require less than a Bachelor's degree don't want to hire someone who has one because they think you'll leave when you find something better. Those who do require the degree want years of experience along with it. I am applying for a job as an administrative assistant at a law school. It's mostly clerical work, helping students register, faxing, answering phones, greeting visitors, etc. I worked at a college doing this kind of work for 6 years. This position only requires a high school diploma. Should I not mention that I have a degree in my resume? I actually w...

Dorchester: Does anybody know about Bard college? What are my chances?
I might just apply for the heck of it...but I know they only accept about 400 or 500 students. I'm 16, currently a sophomore. I am in all of the most advanced classes offered at my school, straight a's except 1 or two b's since 7th grade in just stupid typing classes or something like that. I have takin self taught classes on the computer and even over the summer. I am the only sophomore at my school taking honors pre-calculus, I'm with all juniors. I am involved in about 6 clubs, I have done volunteer work, I am in the process of getting a job and I am willing to work very very hard. I know its a long shot....and I can guarantee there are smarter and more motivated kids ...
