Doncaster: School activities!!?!?!??!?
Since freshman year, I have always wanted to join a school activity (which usually costs money) but due to my family's lack of money, I was restricted from doing anything. It discouraged me to do any activities at school because my parents were strict about doing academics and discouraged me from doing any activities for years. Now it is my senior year and I want to be involved in the school, but I feel like it is too late. I have always felt like I should have met a lot more people and became good friends with them and have a lot of fun while I'm at it, but it just didn't happen. Nowadays, I just to homework and sit around my house all day, and I can't even get a job... 08 Jan 09, 11:01:28
Doncaster: Teenager doesn’t know what to do with his life; please help.?
I have a 19 year old younger brother who is having difficulty finding himself and choosing a path towards his future. He has always been relatively big for his age and has always used this towards the wrong end. At 13 he spent most of his time bullying and physically harming peers and others around him, yet his circle of friends seemed to always applaud that kind of behavior. Furthermore, his teachers and his school principals always seemed to like him. He was a very outgoing person, enjoying the benefit of numerous friends.
Once he enrolled in High School, he more or less stopped attending school. He would cut school, lie to our parents and myself and go hang out with friends. He was ar... 08 Jan 09, 08:01:01

Doncaster: Problem?? What should i do!?
Okay, so I go to a private school which prides itself of academics - you know science, maths etc. And my family is really academical as well - they want me to be a lawyer or doctor and NOTHING else is acceptable in their eyes.
But I can NEVER see myself being a doctor or a lawyer - i'm just not interested in that sort of stuff and i can't see myself spending the rest of my life doing it. And everyone at my school wants to become a doctor or a vet.
But i would love to do something related to fashion as that's what i'm interested in. Like a fashion PR or something. Do you think that's a good job?
I'm just scared my family wouldn't let me and... 07 Jan 09, 07:01:41
Doncaster: How to pass the exam for the Foreign Service? ?
I recently applied for a job with the foreign service in the public diplomacy area and I received an e-mail inviting me to register for the exam and I’d like to know if there is a study guide or what should I do to pass the exam, I’m fluent in Spanish, Italian, I’m learning French and although my academic language is English I do have an accent and I’m nervous about it.
I have a degree in International relations and art education and I’m currently working as an art teacher at a public school.
I have worked as a volunteer at the vatican twice, I have traveled more than most people(europe and south america) and I read a lot about international affairs.... 07 Jan 09, 06:01:29
Doncaster: How can someone find out what career will interest them?
I am really lost in my Academic works, as I don't know what I will become in the future.
How did you become what you are today? (As in a job)
Another thing is that whenever I'm really interested in a career, it usually doesn't have much of a salary as I would like.... 07 Jan 09, 06:01:00
Doncaster: How do I prevent a career meltdown and get motivated at my job?
I seem to be stuck between doing menial low-paying jobs and working in what I got a degree in (architecture). In general, I am not very motivated to do work of any sort. I wonder if I have adult-onset ADD as it is just hard for me to sit at the computer and focus and concentrate on my work. I was a true scholar, excellent student, in my academic years. I am a 40 year old man wondering what to do at this apparent crossroads in my life. I need to make good money to pay down all my debts too!
And then I worry about job security with our economy the way it is. I've considered going back to school or changing careers but those seem daunting and impractical right now. Can someone give me ... 07 Jan 09, 12:01:02
Doncaster: Drop out? This is the voice of a 15 year old male.?
I really do, the school is more of a prison, the ******* government controls it, its not military and we are not slaves for the united ******* states. The classes offered in any academic school is taught out of a textbook, from a website, its all useless information to us, we only use it to feel smart when we actually know the answer about the other side of the world. Really none of this is helping me plan out my future life, and my goals to follow. About 80% of the work is taught from books and i am really bored with the classes.
My maturity is higher then most, i know dropping out is a kick in my own *** according to future opportunities for a job, but really i am stressed from the work, ... 06 Jan 09, 11:01:52
