Doncaster: Will an open container ticket stay on my record?
I received a $25 ticket for having an open container in public. I wasn't in a vehicle which I believe makes it just a civil violation. Will this remain on any record now that is has been paid? If so, for how long and is there action I can take to have it expunged?
My main concern is whether or not I need to answer yes when asked if I've committed a crime or violation when applying to a government job. Most jobs only ask about felonies but government jobs commonly ask about any law violation. I realize answering yes doesn't disqualify me from the job, but I'd like to avoid answering yes and having to explain if I don&... 09 Jan 09, 12:01:05
Doncaster: How to pay for a school trip?
Hi everyone,
Just to fill you in I am on the debate team involved in public forum debate. Today my debate coach asked my partner and I to go to the Harvard National Debate Tournament to compete in JV Public Forum debate. However I'm finding issue with the fact that this trip is very expensive and I need help on ideas of how to pay for it. I can't exactly get the money from my parents because we aren't in a very good position with money right now, currently neither of my parents have jobs (but my Dad is getting severance pay from his engineering job). I know that it seems very selfish to be worrying about going when we are in this situation, but I see this as a very importan... 08 Jan 09, 11:01:50
Doncaster: How Do I Get My Family Members To Understand Me ?
I am 23 years old and the youngest in my family; I have three older brothers (40, 38, and 37).
I have never been content with the ordinary, preferring to study Drama at college, take a master's degree in Journalism, and seek a high profile carer in the public eye. I have no interest in marrying and having a family; settling down is absolute anathema to me.
My brothers, on the other hand, all have business degrees and have all taken low-key public service positions. They are all married (and have been married for several years) with children.
The problem is that my parents cannot understand at all why I can't just be normal and p... 08 Jan 09, 10:01:05

Doncaster: What are the grammatical rules for Government resumes? Specifically, resumes submitted through USAjobs.gov?? ?
Ok...I have a few questions regarding how to construct my resume for USAjobs.gov... From what I have read online, the rules/expectations for public resumes and private resumes are very different. I know I will need to be more descriptive with my job descriptions but can I use first-person (ie I ) to do so? Also, I attended 3 community colleges prior to receiving a degree from a university, do I need to list all of these (I did not receive a degree from any of the CCs)? And what about High School?
And what about cover letters? Are they appropriate for jobs applied for through USAjobs where everything must be faxed and there is no fax cover sheet for such things? ~ (... 08 Jan 09, 09:01:53
Doncaster: Why is Obama's flip-flopping not notorious?
In 2004, while campaigning for Senate, Obama told Illinois college students he felt marijuana should be legalized and decriminalized, and that it was a horrible waste of police force.
In 2007, when a group of democrats where asked if they opposed marijuana, Obama raised his hand.
He later went back and said he was Always pro-marijuana, and he confused about the question. cnn.com posted the video and he quickly changed his public view on Marijuana.

Doncaster: What do you think of those 'Cholos'? ?
Oh, look at me, my English sounds like crap and the only job I'm qualified for is cleaning sewers at minimum wage, and that's why I still live off my parents or sell drugs for a living. Maybe I'll impregnate a woman or two, and ditch them 'cause I'm gangster like that. Then I'll tag on public property and get high, before I get shipped off to jail, and then blame it all on racial discrimination.
I live in Los Angeles, by the way.... 08 Jan 09, 07:01:51
Doncaster: If you get a ticket for a minor traffic violation or a minor misdemeanor, does that mean you've been arrested?
I am trying to fill out a job application that asks Have you been charged with, or arrested for, the violation of any law including traffic laws, misdemeanors.. .etc.
I want to answer truthfully but without giving more info than is required. I once received a ticket for public urination which I did not contest. And I received a tiny traffic ticket for 'failing to make a complete stop at a stop sign on a right turn.'
Does anyone know if these tickets count as Arrests? I made no appearances in court (and was not required to), which seems to me an essential part of being arrested. Can anyone enlighten me on this?... 08 Jan 09, 07:01:59
Doncaster: I'm very shy, very unconfident and don't really want to work with with the public... job suggestions?
I don't know what to do, I'm 20 years old. I'm shy, I'm unconfident. I don't want to work with masses of people, the public or lots of colleagues. I have pretty naff grades and I have to move out in 10 months. I don't want a crap job that I have to work for the rest of my life. I'm unmotivated and always tired and it frightens me knowing I have to work every day for the rest of my life just to survive.
It's hard to describe, but it's too late for college n stuff. What's a easy line of work which is quiet.
I'm not to great with numbers either lol.
Any ideas anyone? :(
Actually... I'm not so much shy just unconfident, an that... 08 Jan 09, 01:01:46
