Derby: Tell me about law school?
Is anyone an attorney? Or do you know about law school and attorneys? What do you have to say about law school? How was it? Were the things you learned helpful once you graduated? What about jobs? Was it hard finding a job after graduation? What type of attorneys are in great demand or will be in the next 10 years? Do you enjoy your career? Is it fulfilling? What about the salary? Any advice? I ask because I want to become an attorney but I'm not sure what kind. I had an internship at the PDs office in high school and one attorney said law school was a waste, everything you needed to know you learned once you were out there in the courtroom. Thanks!...

Derby: Should I not tell them I have a Bachelor's degree?
I graduated last year with a BA in English Literature and am still trying to find a full time job. Jobs that require less than a Bachelor's degree don't want to hire someone who has one because they think you'll leave when you find something better. Those who do require the degree want years of experience along with it. I am applying for a job as an administrative assistant at a law school. It's mostly clerical work, helping students register, faxing, answering phones, greeting visitors, etc. I worked at a college doing this kind of work for 6 years. This position only requires a high school diploma. Should I not mention that I have a degree in my resume? I actually w...

Derby: What kind of legal action would it take to reform marijuana laws?
It's important to note that for the first 15 years of my life, I was drug-free. I smoked a little herb, and then did not smoke again for 6 years. I smoked for 3 years, and then joined the military. When I finished my enlistment, I smoked regularly for about 2 more years. Since that time I have been clean. Mostly out of fear of losing my job. Though I don't get tested at my workplace, it is a state job. I look at groups like NORML and LEAP and am curious how these groups have not made more progress. As my above history indicates, I am an on again, off again pot smoker. I have never tried any harder drugs. I have never been through withdrawal. I have read propaganda for a...

Derby: Could I get the law on my side for this? Please read for more details and answer!?
Hey. My parents were divorced when I was very young. My mom and dad both remarried. But, I live with my mom and step-dad, but I want to live with my dad and step-mom. Is there any way I could get the law on my side or are there any sort of laws that will allow me to live with my dad? And, my dad and step-mom are not criminals and have a clean criminal record, aren't abusive in any way, shape, or form, and they have good well-paying jobs as well as a livable suitable home. My dad is a fireman and works at a glass company, and my step-mom works in cosmetology at a salon. They just purchased a good livable suitable home as well, and it is in a good school district. I really hate livin...

Derby: Who else doesnt want to tell their family that you are pregnant? There's always someone who isn't happy?
I feel like my mom ruins so many things because she is so judgemental. We found out we are pregnant with our second (and yes, we are married and my husband makes about $40,000 a year...). I know she wont be happy, or will fake being happy. We dont have alot of money, but I think compared to alot of people right now, we are doing o.k. My husband works hard and makes enough money to pay all of the bills and buy enough food. We just about even out.each month. We have a 15 month old son, who is the best thing ever. I don't plan on going to work until we are done having kids. I am kind of crossing my fingers its a girl, and we might just stop at 2 children.. my husband would like 3, thoug...

Dear members, I need some HELP!!! I am male (US Citizen) and my fiancee female (Cananda Citizen) is trying to figure out what is the best way for us to be together. I currently reside in Chicago IL USA and she is in Vancouver BC. We have been together for about a year now. About two month ago she came to united states to be together on my birthday and holiday. Her plan was to visit US for 2 months and they wouldn't allow her to stay that long. They accused her from not returning to Canada. They told her that she must return to Canada with...

Derby: The law of libel. When is it practical to sue in the UK?
I have had a very strange situation at work. Until last week, I was regarded as very good at my job. Then some consultants came in for a week to write a report. In this report I am labelled as incompetent and inefficient, and as a result my job is very much on the line. I think mky role will be made redundant next week. I don't think this report is based on fact, and I think I am being scape-goated for political reasons, so is there anything I can do to protect my professional reputatuion from what I (and others) believe to be unfair criticism? They don't have to prove their allegation for it to seriously hurt my future career. I can see the law of tort, and more specifica...
