Darlington: Which lobe of the brain is most affected by stress?
I have a pretty stressful job, and one thing that helps me unwind is to do things such as a word search, play solitaire, color (yes, color), play with a 20Q electronic game, or listen to music. I took a lot of science, physiology, etc. before I changed majors in college. What I don't remember is, what exactly happens in our brains when we do these things? How does doing these things help alleviate stress? I don't remember what lobes of the brain are involved and I'm very curious to know. Anyone??... 05 Dec 08, 04:12:11
Darlington: What should I get my boyfriend for Christmas?
He's 18 & not much into sports. He loves movies, rock music, & dressing nice, and Apple products but I really can't afford that. He's a really sweet & smart guy so he'd appreciate a thoughtful gift. We've been going out for 9 months so any degree of gift, if that makes sense, is fine with me. A lot of websites have said that if we've been together & in a good relationship for that long, get him something nice like a cologne. I would, but we already went shopping and picked him a new one out a few months ago, so he has like 4 that he switches between & doesn't really need a new one. The problem is I'd need a limit of around $50... 05 Dec 08, 04:12:44

Darlington: Black guys, should we start going back to more traditional genres of music?
It seems as if everybody wants to be a hiphoper now or something, shouldnt we start going back to more traditional black american genres like jazz, blues, funk rock ?I mean, whatever happened to learning how to play a certain instrument?
Dont get me wrong,i love hiphop(nas, talib, common, lupe fiasco, kanye west,a tribe called quest, etc etc,but too much of it sucks now days.Too much garbage.
The older jazz/blues/classic rock generation of ours is dying off and leaving all of the quality music behind them.It is important that we continue the tradition because i personally feel that its more culture than this new hiphop crap thats out today. We must do a better job at preserving our cultu... 05 Dec 08, 02:12:54
Darlington: Which Version of 'A Christmas Carol' is Your Favorite?
Mine will always be the 1970 musical ( Scrooge ) w/ Albert Finney.
Mom introduced me to it when I was very young, so it stuck with me.
Great, lively music, Finney does a great job acting & looking old. In fact, for *years* I thought he was a much older man until I saw him in subsequent movies. I was shocked!
& oh man, that scene where Tiny Tim sings to his family still makes me tear up! & the ghost of Xmas future scared the s*it outta me!
It's not Xmas until I see this movie every year. :)

Darlington: What is my problem? I think it's perfectionism to an extreme?
My entire life I've had a gift to do anything I set my mind to, but the only problem is being able to put forth all my effort for an infinite amount of time to satisfy my desire to keep going. If I can't go through with all my effort, the task is not worth doing. After realizing I can't spend all the time I want on it, this usually ends up in me quitting and looking for something else. I have been doing this my whole life and have ended up nowhere, but wanting to be somewhere so desperately.
Here are a few examples: when learning boxing/martial arts, I never want to stop. It's either I do it all day every day or I can't do it at all, because the anticipation ... 05 Dec 08, 01:12:35
Darlington: I don't know what to ask for for x-mas.?
I know i know, i shouldn't be wondering on what i WANT but rather what i am getting my friends, but that situation has already been resolved. This year, the question is what exactly do I want for a gift? I already have a camera (a erally good one actually), my own computer, as well as the books and clothes that i want (which i bought). I guess the issue is, since i went and got my job and have been self sustaining myself for the last couple of years i dont see thing as what I want anymore......so...I guess a suggestion or two as to what is on YOUR x-mas list is in order.
Things that i like (to help anyon else out)
japanese things

harry potter

Darlington: Are you alone/have no friends in school? If so, how do you cope with it?
Hello. My name is Amber and I'm a 14 year old middle school student.
I have been picked on and made fun of for years. I'm called emo/goth , I'm made fun of by the music I listen to, my hair, my clothes, the way I walk, talk, or anything that people know can annoy me. I have made two true friends throughout the years, but one of them moved and the other one is moving soon. Amanda, the one that currently attends this school, is in all honors classes, and I can't even grasp one subject as well as others can. So obviously, I'm currently in NO honors classes, and I think I already ruined next year for myself.
As for everyone else I hung out with, they all... 04 Dec 08, 11:12:55
