Darlington: What salary should I ask for this job - hotel in PV?
I'm completely lost and the great people of Y!A always seem to help.
I've got a job offer at a top rated hotel in PV. They are a 21 room resort with prices ranging from $200 a night to $600 a night. They host a lot of weddings, and really that's what most of their customers are there for.
I have two years of experience being a front desk manager at hotels in the U.S. and I am knowledgable in most areas of running a hotel.
They are going to start me out working reception with the chance to move up if they are satisfied with my work. One problem, the owner keeps asking me what salary I expect and I don't know what to tell him. He said he would pay me comparable... 05 Dec 08, 02:12:05

Darlington: Why is it that some people don't understand why they are meant to tip a server in a restaurant?
I have worked as a server for three years, but even before I did I never thought about percent when it came to tip. My old standard for tipping was at least $5 per person in my party. Of course with the price of everything going up, the rare times I can afford to eat out, it is $10 per person. I eat at restaurants were the average cost of a mean is around $20 for adults and $10 for children.
When you eat out you are paying the restaurant for the food, and then the tip is how you pay your server for the service you have been given.
I always give good service and yes I expected to be paid(tipped) for the work I have just done for that customer. Of course it is very rare that someo... 05 Dec 08, 01:12:24

Darlington: I am an adult.. are my friends out of line? Is this good reasoning to resent me?
My husband and I moved a thousand miles away for his job leaving all friends and family back home. We had gotten engaged ten months before the wedding and everyone knew about it and within a week from the big question I had already asked my two best friends to stand in our wedding. The answers were big, excited of course's!!!
Ten months flew by and the plans were to have my maid of honor and my husbands best man stay the week after the wedding because things would be hectic before hand. Not only were we planning a wedding where 100% of the guests and family were flying in from other states, but I was/am a full time student with mid terms in full force, and my f... 05 Dec 08, 12:12:13

Darlington: what's the funniest joke you've heard?
mine is:
A couple from Minneapolis decided to go to Florida for a long weekend to thaw out during one particularly icy winter. Because both had jobs, they had difficulty coordinating their travel schedules. It was decided that the husband would fly to Florida on a Thursday, and his wife would follow him the next day. Upon arriving as planned, the husband checked into the hotel. There he decided to open his laptop and send his wife an e-mail back in Minneapolis. However, he accidentally left off one letter in her address, and sent the e-mail without realizing his error.
In Houston, a widow had just returned from her husband's funeral. He was a minister of many years who had been ... 04 Dec 08, 11:12:05
