Darlington: What should I get my boyfriend for Christmas?
He's 18 & not much into sports. He loves movies, rock music, & dressing nice, and Apple products but I really can't afford that. He's a really sweet & smart guy so he'd appreciate a thoughtful gift. We've been going out for 9 months so any degree of gift, if that makes sense, is fine with me. A lot of websites have said that if we've been together & in a good relationship for that long, get him something nice like a cologne. I would, but we already went shopping and picked him a new one out a few months ago, so he has like 4 that he switches between & doesn't really need a new one. The problem is I'd need a limit of around $50... 05 Dec 08, 04:12:44
Darlington: Christmas gifts for the kids?
This last month has particularly hard on our family, my husband lost a job and started another one, but the new job hasn't starting paying him yet, they said you have to wait three weeks for your first check, that's just how they do it. So needless to say we will not be getting our children gifts this year, we already live paycheck to paycheck so only living on my check for three weeks has been hard.
I told my sister about this and she just starts being very critical of me, making me feel like a bad parent because we are not getting gifts for our kids, she is suppose to come to town over christmas and stay with us which I am okay with, but I don't need her making me feel b... 05 Dec 08, 04:12:56
Darlington: My boyfriend is accusing me of cheating?
My boyfriend is accusing me of cheating. I swear I have never cheated on him.
He works about 60 hours a week. I work as a substitute teacher, so I have a couple of days off here and there. I don't get out much because I don't want to spend money due to me wanting to buy Christmas presents and what not.
My boyfriend gets home around 6:30pm during the week and I usually have dinner ready for him when he gets home. I do it because I love him but also it's a respect thing because he works so much and I haven't been getting too many sub jobs lately. So I figure it's a way to make up for me not working. You know?
So my girl friend and I went out to a resta... 05 Dec 08, 03:12:13
Darlington: I'm strapped for cash & not working, should I buy gifts or what?
I lost my job earlier this year and am fortunate enough to still have some savings to hold me through for at least a few months, but I feel like I have to live really cheaply because the economy's so bad & I really don't know when my next job will come. I've already decided not to get christmas gifts for friends, but there are birthdays and not one, but FIVE pregnancies among very good friends. I feel like I'm in a bind because buying even pretty cheap gifts will add up if I have to buy so many, and some of these people already bought me a birthday gift just a couple months ago so I feel obligated to give presents in return (and definitely would, if I were working). Darlington: What would be a good starter bass, for really cheap?
I've just got into bass guitar, after playing electric for a while, and I have to say, I've found my calling. The only problem is... The only basses lying around are my dad's, and I can't always count on playing them.
So I'm thinking I can get my own for Christmas, or when I get a job. What do you think I should get as my own first bass?... 05 Dec 08, 01:12:16
Darlington: Which Version of 'A Christmas Carol' is Your Favorite?
Mine will always be the 1970 musical ( Scrooge ) w/ Albert Finney.
Mom introduced me to it when I was very young, so it stuck with me.
Great, lively music, Finney does a great job acting & looking old. In fact, for *years* I thought he was a much older man until I saw him in subsequent movies. I was shocked!
& oh man, that scene where Tiny Tim sings to his family still makes me tear up! & the ghost of Xmas future scared the s*it outta me!
It's not Xmas until I see this movie every year. :)

Darlington: Going back to college after failing out?
Hi.
I went through high school studying Japanese, playing first chair violin, taking all honors classes, got a 3.6, and got a 1400/1600 on the SATs.
Then I went half way across the country to a university i was barely familiar with (my parents both went there and had always said they wanted a kid to go there, im the youngest and none of my siblings went there so it was sorta up to me). I HATED it. I started off alright, I started to make some friends and joined some groups etc. My best friend died in a car crash back home and I couldn't even make it to the funeral because i was so far away. I got so depressed. I had no friends, didn't do clubs, didn't go to class... 05 Dec 08, 01:12:10
