Croydon: Can I receive child support for my children if I don't have a job?
My boyfriend and I broke up and he wanted me and the kids out of the house. I could dispute it, but I'd really rather not. I'm a full-time student at an online college and when we lived together I stayed at home and went to school while he worked. Now I'm at my parents and they are paying for everything. I am trying to get a job, but I don't know whether I should file for it now or wait until I get one. What do you think?
P.S. - I live in Virginia.... 05 Dec 08, 04:12:45
Croydon: Is cashtospend.com legit?
Like most college students, I'm a bit tight on money, and having some extra, even with my job, would be nice, especially considering gas and turnpike fees. (I regularly go a few hundred miles on the turnpike, and it adds up) Cashtospend.com advertises in my school's newspaper, and I was wondering if anyone knew how legit it was, especially considering another company that advertises products on your car is totally untrustworthy.... 05 Dec 08, 04:12:28
Croydon: Christians: How do I get back to feeling myself again?
Well, I don't feel totally lost, but I just feel a little wierd. For the past several months, I have been looking for a job, and I finally got one a couple weeks ago (thank God). But when I was without a job, I was struggling financially (plus, I'm a college student too) and I stopped hanging with friends...well I really couldn't because I didn't have money. When I hung out with them ( 1st time in a long time) this past weekend, I felt wierd. While going through my hardship, I lost sight of who were my friends and who wasn't. Why is that? But also, over that time (and kinda now) it just felt like nothing was going right-I would chase after different opportunities, su... 05 Dec 08, 04:12:02

Croydon: Help with frustrating job-hunt situation?
I go to small university in an equally small town. I've been looking for a job for a while, but there's no decent jobs for me here. I've been checking the local newspaper website and another classifieds web site for a while and nothing really has popped up. One okay job I applied to, Books-A-Million, got me no response. There's a mall (consisting of a disjointed Dillard's, Sears, and JCPenny) but I don't have retail experience and plus I know someone who worked at the Dillard's there and she said because it's small, competition for people's sales is a little tense. I've asked my friends if the places they work at are hiring but th... 05 Dec 08, 03:12:16
Croydon: Is this a good time to major in business?
Well, with the economy going down the drain, I have my doubts on entering business. I even heard in some UC colleges, they are urging students to switch majors. But, I did hear that it only applies to those who wants to work under large corporations. However, if I don't major in business, then I'm pretty much screwed. I have no other jobs I would like to stick to for a looooong time, because I was planning to OPEN my own business with my cousin, rather than working under one.
So I'm wondering if it still applies to me and if I should change majors while I have time. I'm 16 and a junior in high school, so I don't have much time to think about it. Thanks, any help i... 05 Dec 08, 03:12:38
Croydon: OB/GYN and Neonatal Surgeon?
Still in high school. I was wondering if an average student who maintains an A- and B+ average could become a Neonatal Surgeon, OB/GYN or a Prenatal Surgeon.
I know I am not an outstanding student grade wise but I am very involved extra curricular activities such as clubs and volunteering. (I don't know if that makes a difference) My strongest subject is Science and English. I love Bio (haven't take chemistry yet) I will be taking AP Bio when I am a senior. The only thing is math isn't my strongest subject. On average I have anywhere from an 80 to 85, but I did terrible my freshman year...I think I had an average in the 70's but I received and 85% on my state exams.

Croydon: Should I not tell them I have a Bachelor's degree?
I graduated last year with a BA in English Literature and am still trying to find a full time job. Jobs that require less than a Bachelor's degree don't want to hire someone who has one because they think you'll leave when you find something better. Those who do require the degree want years of experience along with it.
I am applying for a job as an administrative assistant at a law school. It's mostly clerical work, helping students register, faxing, answering phones, greeting visitors, etc. I worked at a college doing this kind of work for 6 years. This position only requires a high school diploma. Should I not mention that I have a degree in my resume? I actually w... 05 Dec 08, 03:12:03
Croydon: Does anybody know about Bard college? What are my chances?
I might just apply for the heck of it...but I know they only accept about 400 or 500 students. I'm 16, currently a sophomore. I am in all of the most advanced classes offered at my school, straight a's except 1 or two b's since 7th grade in just stupid typing classes or something like that. I have takin self taught classes on the computer and even over the summer. I am the only sophomore at my school taking honors pre-calculus, I'm with all juniors. I am involved in about 6 clubs, I have done volunteer work, I am in the process of getting a job and I am willing to work very very hard. I know its a long shot....and I can guarantee there are smarter and more motivated kids ... 05 Dec 08, 03:12:00
Croydon: I'm strapped for cash & not working, should I buy gifts or what?
I lost my job earlier this year and am fortunate enough to still have some savings to hold me through for at least a few months, but I feel like I have to live really cheaply because the economy's so bad & I really don't know when my next job will come. I've already decided not to get christmas gifts for friends, but there are birthdays and not one, but FIVE pregnancies among very good friends. I feel like I'm in a bind because buying even pretty cheap gifts will add up if I have to buy so many, and some of these people already bought me a birthday gift just a couple months ago so I feel obligated to give presents in return (and definitely would, if I were working).
